    Need some body knowledge

I'm not bad mouthing anybody. I've been in automotive for years and I understand that. I'm just looking for some advice on something I don't have a ton of experience on hoping to be able to fix it myself. That's the only reason I'm here, if I didn't understand that I'd have been one of those...

    Need some body knowledge

I guess I'm going to take the bumper cover off tonight and see if I can identify anything out of line. I just hope they didn't install bent parts or something, and it's something fixable without spending a million dollars

    Advance/Walmart partnership

I spent the better part of a decade as an assistant store manager at AAP, and I'll tell you... being up the street from a Walmart was a constant thorn in our side. I know the company itself has been concerned for awhile that someday Walmart would open a legit auto parts department and run...

    Need some body knowledge

Okay I got some pictures found here: https://imgur.com/a/msuMTMA So I did my best to highlight the areas of interest here. As per the earlier questions, it seems like the gaps between the door and fender is pretty even top to bottom on both sides. Pictures 1 and 2 show the gap between the...

    Need some body knowledge

Yep, I've been lucky in 15 years of driving I've only gotten 3. But I'll double check the stock headlight. It's a little harder to see cause the projector in the retrofit has such a clean cutoff it's really obvious. The originals are just reflector halogens. I'm pretty sure it's gotta be...

    Need some body knowledge

Okay, I'll try that. I just feel pretty sure since it's iver a year later they're going to try to say it's from a separate incident or something and refuse to cover it getting it sorted.

    Need some body knowledge

I'm more of a mechanical person than a body person so I need some advice. 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix I hit a deer awhile ago and it messed up the hood, front bumper and left fender and the support behind the bumper that the headlights fasten into. I don't know what other parts (if any) they may...

    Persistent, constant, high-pitched tone

Sorry, it’s a 2004 Grand Prix GTP. I’m used to posting on a forum where my car is in a signature.. I don’t have that set up here. Anyways, I did the fuel filter and it’s 200% better. Not only is the noise gone, but it’s dead silent... not even a quiet whine or hum. Better than before the...

    Persistent, constant, high-pitched tone

It can’t be, it’s ear-piercing... I know the pump whines at key-on and while running but thats more like a hum. Even my girlfriend who knows nothing about cars was like, what is that horrible noise... after riding in this car for 10 years. Unless the fuel filter is blocked up somehow and the...

    Persistent, constant, high-pitched tone

I’m just looking to pick some brains and see if someone more knowledgeable than me can provide some direction. I’ve got this high pitched tone, it’s like (beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep) but constant, there’s no start and stop. It’s almost like an audio whine if you have power...

R&R rear exhaust manifold 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix

Hey guys just wanted to stop and update. Your advice was spot on, manifold came out the top fairly easy with the motor strapped forward. LIM gasket is done and all new lifters while I had everything apart, cleaned all the funk off the lim and supercharger, flushed out the cooling system...

    High Mileage ATF D&F

I’ve got a 2000 Ford Explorer as a winter beater, it’s at 155k. I was wanting to change the atf and filter, but I’m aware that doing that with a high mileage transmission that’s never had the fluid changed before can be opening a can of worms and create problems that weren’t there before. I...

R&R rear exhaust manifold 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix

Just curious, not doubting, what’s the purpose of not reusing the studs that came out with the nuts? I thought only one or two were supposed to be a nut and the rest were supposed to come out as studs. When I did the front years ago it was the same way, two nuts and four studs.

R&R rear exhaust manifold 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix

Alright, got it out and new one in from the top... plenty of space. On the torque specs, I wanna make sure. The torque thread on my main forum says 22-24ft-lbs, a lot of other sources say like 3 different specs? Like manifold bolt - 22ft-lbs, manifold stud (inner) - 22ft-lbs, then manifold...

R&R rear exhaust manifold 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix

Last time I did the plugs I greased the boots... I remember last time was a nightmare getting those boots off. If that’s the hardest part, I’ll be thankful, lol. Once I have it disconnected from the downpipe, it should just just come straight up, I hope?

R&R rear exhaust manifold 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix

Not sure if anyone has a lot of experience with the GM 3800 and w-bodies... I’m pretty sure I’ve got a cracked rear manifold, and I’m working on a replacement. I’m in the process of a LIM gasket, so I’m thinking about doing it now. I know a lot of people like to drop the subframe a few inches...

    Castrol vs Royal Purple?

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I think I'm going to try switching to the edge 0w40 and see how it goes. I think I'm going to try out the purolator boss filter, too.

    Castrol vs Royal Purple?

2004 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP (3.8L Supercharged), 120k miles, live in the Northeast US. Daily driver in the summer, spends a lot of time sleeping in the winter... though I drive it if the roads are dry in the winter. I've been using Castrol Edge 0w30 Euro Formula for awhile now and I like it...
