Cheap LED Lights from Amazon..are they UL approved?

We like our house somewhat dark, and we are using these lights mostly for under cabinet lighting in the kitchen. They consume 1 watt of power and provide 100 lumens of light. Sounds like nothing to worry about.

Cheap LED Lights from Amazon..are they UL approved?

The box has no ETL, UL, IL, Intertek, CSA, TUV, or any type of rating or testing standard listed on it. The lights themselves have nothing printed or cast into them. Link to the lights...

Cheap LED Lights from Amazon..are they UL approved?

Wife picked up two 6 pack boxes of LED night lights from Amazon for $16. They work as advertised and are actually pretty cool. However, the box, nor the website mentions nothing about them being UL approved. Laugh, but the older I get the more I worry about these things. Seeing horrible...

Some Anchor motor mounts might actually be good: Part #9023

I do not like Walker aftermarket exhaust products. If the pipe is not mandrel bent, they are terrible. Smaller diameter, horrible looking bends, and their mufflers neck down inside and severerly reduce flow. I bought a replacement muffler for a 90's Z28 Camaro from Walker and the muffler...

Some Anchor motor mounts might actually be good: Part #9023

I have used Anchor motor and transmission mounts on several vehicles and have never had a problem. Including their liquid filled mounts. Pioneer brand mounts have also performed well.

How bad are these VR6 Passat GDI intake valves?

I can't see anything but black fuzz, camera is zoomed in too far.

Can engine sit half assembled - would assembly oil run off?

An XR engine would have four removeable valve 'covers' on the cylinder head for valve adjustments. Prior to starting the engine take off those covers and squirt oil into the top of the valvetrain including the cam chain. Pull the spark plug and squirt a little oil into the cylinder as well...

AC question: pull vacuum on service hoses before connecting?

Why not partially fill the system with some refrigerant first to circulate it through the system and maybe bleed some of that off at the service ports? Then pull a vacuum on what's left. After that purge the fill line to the gauges after connecting the refrigerant can. I have vacuumed...

Riding mower cranks but won't start

My Craftsman mower is like yours. Since owning it I have had to use a puff of starting fluid to get it to light off when cold. It will start on it's own the remainder of the day. I replaced the vacuum diaphragm fuel pump with a new one but I still have had no luck with getting fuel to it...

Cheap generic 4’ LED short light no longer have frosted diffusers

I envision what you refer to as a diffuser might be a frosted lens of sort? I have several Rural King 4 foot LED shop lights and when you look at the 'bulbs' they are little LED squares behind a clear cover. Having left one of the lights on over a workbench I can tell you the light...

Early First Oil Change on New vehicle- Good Idea or Waste of Money?

GDI and Turbo 1.6L Veloster.... I have been doing 4K oci max 5w40 oil. The KIA 3.3L V6 gets 5K oci max, 10w30. We have had three H/K vehicles and none have had an oil related issues. The third vehicle had the 1.6L Turbo with 144,000 miles and had relatively zero oil consumption the entire...

    Wagner rotors

I have been using the cheapest rotors possible on RA closeout paired with Raybestos EHT pads with great success. The last closeout rotors listed as Famous Brands were the ProStop brand.

    Negative equity

Some people have no issues amassing debt and getting cars repossessed and homes foreclosed on then filing for bankruptcy. I have seen where after filing and being absolved of all debts they somehow land an 800 credit score a few years later. No, they don't learn anything. I have a long...

    A/C recharge issue/R134A shelf life?

As a shade tree mechanic I think the importance of bleeding air from the a/c gauge lines after connecting them is underemphasized. I think most DIY videos show the connections and charging but leave out a thorough air purge. Any air in the system will lower the cooling output noticeably...

    Tire purchase cost and timing

Got 215/45/17 Kumho Ecsta PA31 tires for $68 each at Walmart. OTD was $386 with taxes and install... this was last week. Despite some negative reviews of the tire the tires handle and drive really well.
