    Kirkland signature synthetic oil

My semi local Costco Business Center has all 3 “flavors” in the 6 1QT boxes. My local Costco never has 5W-20, but usually has 0W-20 and 5W-30 all day long.

2012 Kia Optima 2.0T Rotella Gas Truck 5w30 167000 miles fuel dilution 3000 miles on oil

I know it’s the Gamma, but I did get a UOA done before I had to turnaround and get a different ride (due to the addition of our first child, LOL) link here. My driving on that UOA was 60% highway/40 % city. I want to say someone else on the forum came to the same conclusion as you did regarding...

Your Favorite Non - OEM Air Filter ?

Ecogard used to be my go to from Amazon, but now a company called Spearhead has my business. Their filters have fit well in my Hyundai and they have been very reasonably priced. Plus, I tried out their windshield wipers and for the price I paid - they’re pretty top notch.

New Telluride - Mobil 1 HM?

As a Hyundai person, I’ve never understood how the hell Kia gets sold above MSRP all day long... yet I can usually always spot it’s Hyundai sibling with some type of promotion. Either way - excellent choice of vehicle!! As to your question - you could go either way, but my personal choice would...

I may have noticed this today while dumping oil... nothing on the shelves (yet.)

BEST CHOICES FOR HYUNDAI SANTA FE THETA II 2.4 GDI

As an owner of a ‘17 Sonata with the same engine, I’d highly recommend at the minimum a Dexos 1 Gen 2 oil in 5W-30. Why a GM approval for a Hyundai Motor? Well - because D1G2 on the whole is a good all around approval for an engine like ours, and many here on BITOG look for that as a “bare...

    PUP SP

My last batch from Amazon was from March 2020... maybe this time next year I’ll see my first SP PUP come in.

RGT - will it be going away soon?

Based off of everything we know, I’m pretty sure AAP/AZ are getting rid of it because it doesn’t sell at $30-40. The stock I picked up was manufactured in 10/2018. More than likely they are making room for either new products from Pennzoil or they are just going to give more space back to...

Thoughts on Castrol Edge EP 0w20 (gold bottle)?

Valvoline Advance, M1, Castrol Edge, and Pennzoil Platinum, and even Quaker State UD and the Warren Synthetics (SuperTech/AmazonBasics/Kirkland Signature) are all within a few inches of each other when it comes to performance. The difference is your application and what specs it must meet, the...

    Unless it is a misprint?

I will burn through my stash of PUP on my two vehicles and likely switch to Mobil 1 EP. Easier to obtain (unlike PUP where I have to order it via Walmart/Amazon), and based off the other thread looks to be more stout than the SN+ formula (with the likely discontinuation of AP.)

    Unless it is a misprint?

It looks like the 5W-20 and the 5W-30 is the same sheet. 10W-30 shows 10.1 for the kinematic viscosity @ 100 C. Also, no longer A5/B5 approved. They also updated PUP, which retains A5/B5. https://www.shell-livedocs.com/data/published/en-US/b7a53dd0-2f04-4910-b035-c4234c72c0d6.pdf

    Late switch to full synthetic?

By switching to a full synthetic, not even high mileage, you could easily get 7,500-10K out of a single oil change. This is a perfect use case for Super Tech/Amazon Basics/Kirkland Signature Oil... all made by Warren with a solid additive package.

Wanna see a turbo do a magic trick? (UOA PUP 5W-30)

The 3.5% is surprising. I'm about to do the Tucson within the next day or two, sending off a sample (same oil, sub 5K miles) and am curious to see if it is still high. Edit - Actually, I think I goofed up on sampling by moving the car onto the ramps and then turning it off. ...³ Matters...

Wanna see a turbo do a magic trick? (UOA PUP 5W-30)

Okay so the title is obvious, it's a turbo, of course it's going to be hard on anything you put in it. For reference, Hyundai (for MY2019) recommends 5W-30/5W-40 SN oil every 6K, nothing about ACEA A5/B5 like it did in the wife's 2016 Tucson with the same 1.6L Gamma Turbo (with a 5K interval)...
