What bike (s) do you have?

I have a 1972 Raleigh Record that I've used intermittently through the years. I bought it new, and it's in beautiful shape. I'm getting it ready now for some summer riding.

The most comfortable car ever. Jay Leno

Superb cars. In college, I was part owner of a '58 ID19. Rode like a dream, with tenacious handling. Only sold it because we needed the cash. At the same time, another friend had a Renault 16, and that too could spoil you for conventional cars quickly.

Holy cow! 18.6 mpg with 2004 Crown Vic

Your mileage is right on the mark. I have an '08 Grand Marquis that consistently returns 18 to 19 mpg around town. Glad you joined the club! I sure love mine.

    What Is Your Favorite Oil?

Motorcraft 5W/20 semi-syn for my '08 Merc Grand Marquis, with a Motorcraft filter. The car must like it because it's extremely quiet.

    Sir Jack Brabham: 1926-2014

I saw the 1970 Grand Prix of Monaco on television, which if I remember right was broadcast live. That was the race where Brabham almost had it in the bag, but slid into the haybales on the last turn and Rindt slipped past for the win. The disgust on Brabham's face was plain to see. Fabulous...

    Favorite Bond Flick?

"On Her Majesty's Secret Service," which is also one of my favorite Bond novels. George Lazenby was a splendid Bond, but very difficult to work with. And of course, Diana Rigg was wonderful as Tracy Draco.

    Favorite Bond Song?

"From Russia With Love" by Matt Munro, and Louis Armstrong's "We Have All the Time In the World" from "On Her Majesty's Secret Service".

    Favorite "ugliest" car?

I agree. The Citroen D-series was a beautiful car whose form suited its function. I had a 1958 ID19-F for a while in the early Seventies, and I loved it. Oh, the comfort...!

    Favorite "ugliest" car?

1961 Plymouth. I was and am crazy about those things, and I guess crazy is the right word! I also love the entire '62 Mopar range.

Major fuel brands not in your area?

Texaco and Chevron left my area about five or six years ago. We now have Mobil, BP, Valero, Shell and a bunch of Exxon stations, plus smaller retailers like Sheetz and Kangaroo.

    It's a Lancia Flaminia.

    Arco Graphite Oil

I used it briefly in the late '70s on a 1975 VW Dasher. Filthy stuff. It was hard to scrub off your hands and stains could not be removed from clothing.

1969 Silver Shadow with 12K miles

In the late 1970s, I worked in a shop that catered to exclusive cars - Royces, Astons and the like. One day a well dressed fellow dropped off his Silver Cloud for exhaust system replacement. He was going off on a cruise, and cautioned us to use only R-R factory parts. We did as instructed...

    What's your earliest car memory?

I think I was about four years old when a neighbor's car caught fire. The car was a beautiful green '49 Buick sedanet. I suppose a fuel hose deteriorated. Thankfully, it wasn't much of a fire, as we were only three blocks from the fire house. As I recall, it sure spiced up the afternoon!

Worst or most problematic car you've owned?

1975 Volkswagen Dasher, purchased in 1977 with only 16,000 miles on it. I cannot begin to recount all the trouble that car gave me, but it got to the point that repairs were exceeding the average car payment. Finally I sold it in 1979, and the new owner beat it to death in short order.

    Some People REALLY Surprise Me

Not surprising, really. Who wouldn't love a low mileage, beautifully maintained Panther? I'm a Grand Marquis owner myself.
