    Michelin or Continental for C7

Recently bought a set of wheels for the C7. I went with Michelin Pilot Sport AS4 for tires. Long story short the tires I ordered are a bit too narrow and look stretched. I hate it. So I’m going to take a loss and replace these tires that have less than 300 miles on them 🤦‍♂️ I’ve had 2 sets of...

    2017 C7 Corvette differential woes…

2 weeks ago I purchased a 2017 C7 Corvette. Manual trans. I immediately changed the oil, trans and diff fluid. The car had 31,600 miles when I got it. The diff fill and drain plugs both have magnets which were covered as expected if the diff has never been serviced. When I initially serviced...

    New shocks longer than OEM?

Decided to throw a set of front shocks on my beater 95 Nissan truck. The new shocks are a bit longer. I installed them anyway. Is this a common thing with the aftermarket? Another weird thing I noticed is that one of the new shocks is significantly stiffer than the other new one. They are...

DT Phantom tires made by Michelin?

Anyone know if that’s true? Got a set of these for my 95 Hardbody beater. Only have the rears mounted so far as they had to order the other 2. Will get full driving impressions once the fronts are mounted tomorrow. These were the cheapest tires in 225/70/15. I was only driving this truck once a...

    2007 Tahoe Z71 2wd Rotors

My Girlfriend has this Tahoe. She is not a hard driver. Overall the Tahoe is in pretty good shape for 213,000 miles. Has anyone bought new rotors that were warped out of the box? Last night I installed a set of Powerstop rotors and pads. The kit is advertised as performing like OE. The...

Rebuilt MerCruiser 4.3 on the way.

I have a rebuilt 4.3 coming from Michigan Motorz next week. These motors call for 25w40. Any suggestion on using a specific break in oil? Maybe straight 30 Amsoil?

    Valvoline “ easy packs “

Anyone else notice that Valvoline has their own easy packs like Amsoil? I saw them at Walmart a few days ago.

    Coolant from 2012

Friend was moving and gave me a box with various auto fluids. One of those fluids is a gallon of sealed Preston all makes all models 50/50 from 2012. Would y’all still use that for a drain and fill in a beater?

    07 Tahoe trans fluid change.

My Girlfriends 07 Tahoe Z71 was neglected service wise in the earlier parts of its life. Of course she has no idea if the transmission has ever been touched. Has 195k but runs reasonably well. Trans fluid is dark and smells well used but not necessarily burnt. I decided to suck 3 quarts out...

    Supercharged 17 Mustang GT

I have a VMP GEN2R 2.3 blower on the way for the car. When it's all said and done it should have a little over 600 RWHP. I don't plan on tracking the car. It calls for 5w20. I run Pennzoil Platinum 5W30. A lot of people say jump to 5w50. That seems a little overkill to me. I'll enjoy my burst...

2001 Supercharged Frontier slow engagement into drive

This is my dads truck. 317,000 miles and once in drive the auto trans functions very well even with the high miles. No slip and shift quality is still good. The bad is Sometimes it takes 15 to 20 min of Idling before it will go into drive if it has been sitting. I was told the seals in the...

    13 Titan coolant type

13 Titan with 73,000 miles. Should I stick with dealer coolant or are any of the coolants on the shelf at walmart basically the same? I'm just doing a drain and fill. It still has the factory fill Nissan blue in it now. I think it's rated for 7 years or 100k.

    Honda GCV160 or Briggs 725exi

Both 21 inch push mowers. I believe the Briggs model is a snapper that's self propelled. 7.25 EXI OHV engine. The other mower is a Troy built with the Honda GCV. The Troy Built is not self propelled. Both mowers are the same price. I don't need it to be self propelled but is the Honda that...

    Powersmart Lawnmowers

Anyone know who makes the engines on the Powersmart mowers? I don't have a large lawn so I don't need anything fancy so part of me wants to just get a cheap mower that I know is more than sufficient and the other part of me wants to splurge on something nicer with maybe a Honda engine, but I...

13 Titan Vibration in 4th gear.

Bought this truck January of 2015 with 5,000 miles on it. Around 16,600 miles I noticed that it vibrates in 4th gear starting around 53mph and mostly disappears around 65mph. This is a 5 speed Auto so 4th gear is rarely used for extended periods, but I occasionally manually select 4th gear if I...

    17 Mustang GT

Differential has 75w85 in it. Cars prior to 2015 had 75w140 in the solid axles. New cars are IRS. I doubt the thin gear oil was for nothing more than helping meet CAFE requirements. I'm about ready to change the oil to 75w110 Amsoil Severe Gear. Does anyone here have good experience putting...

    Pennzoil Platinum 5w20 / 5w30 mix

My 17 GT runs just fine with 5w20 but I am hard on it at times and while 5w20 has long proven itself, is it the best choice for a fairly high strung V8? For 2018 ford made changes to the Coyote V8 but I imagine the clearances are similar. The 18 manual states to use 5w30 on the track but switch...

2017 Mustang GT Manual trans fluid

My car has the Chinese Built Getrag MT82. This transmission didn’t have a good reputation when it came out in 2011, but it has had a couple of revisions and seems to work great in my car. The only approved fluid is ford dual clutch fluid. Amsoil doesn’t have a recommendation and no one else does...

    PP 5w30, 5078 miles, 2013 Nissan Titan

Last year I did two 5,000 mile intervals before sending a sample of Amsoil SS 5w30 to Blackstone. Also ran two 5,000 mile intervals of PP 5w30 before sending sample. Fram Ultra Oil filter used both times. Looks like the PP did better than the Amsoil. Amsoil is in the 3rd column. PP in the 1st.
