Is there a Ford repair tech out there?

The DPS6 transmission is still in production. I'm hearing that it might be replaced in 2018 with something else.

    Thougts on Ford's 3.7 V6 duratec engine?

As a Ford tech I don't see a lot of problems out of the 3.5/3.7 non turbo engines. The one thing I do not like about this engine in the Edge, Taurus, and Explorer applications is the water pump is internal to the engine and driven by the timing chain. If the pump or its gasket fails it can trash...

K&N Oil and Air Filters Available at Walmart

I found it interesting that their K&N oil filters cost more than what the auto parts stores sell them for.

    cracked block Honda civic

Cracked blocks are a common problem on this generation of civics through 2009. Happened to mine when the previous owner had it at 89k miles. Dealer should have known to check for the cracked block before the radiator on yours.

Do you prefill/prime your oil filter ??????

Castrol email about GTX Synblend and Magnatec.

Wonder if this change has anything to do with Autozone's GTX Synblend clearance?

is there a oversized filter for a 2014 civic 1.8l?

There really isn't much room to fit an oversized filter on the R18 engine as it is mounted vertically in a recessed corner of the oil pan. I don't think the 3593a style will fit, as it is too wide at the base. You might could find a longer filter but I wouldn't get one that would hang lower than...

Mobil1 EP and Valvoline Synpower go up in $

Maybe they are rotating prices to make up for the price cut on Castrol Edge? Castrol GTX increased to $17.97 at Walmart near me.

    I LOVE BITOG

Not trying to thread jack, but I would also like to extend my thanks to everyone as well. I have learned a lot about oil and also some ways to save money.

    1999 Ford F150 64,000 miles

Motorcraft FL-820s and 5w-20 of your choice. 4.6s are very reliable engines (I'm partial to them as you can see; I have one, too.) They are not too picky on oil anyway. I usually run synthetic blends in mine.

    Oil filters from Amazon...

I've bought several filters online before and never had a problem. I got the Ultra that I'm using now from Amazon.

    Ford focus dual clutch transmission

They are having big problems with the clutch shuddering on take-off on these. Ford has already extended the warranty on the unit. The internal seals leak and contaminate the clutch.

    1/4" Drive Cordless Electric Ratchet

Snap-on and MAC offer them as well but they are $300-$400.

    2014 Civic hatch Euro

Honda needs to offer this Civic over here! Plus with the 6 speed manual that the non Si Civics don't have. As popular as hatchbacks have been with Civics before and that 5 door hatches are popular now... it seems obvious to me.

Took a look at the trans fluid in my 2011 FX4

Mercon LV seems to be a stout fluid. I just hate the way it has to be checked on the side of the trans and is very close to the catalytic converter.

    2014 Honda Civic LX 1.8L

I am using Napa synthetic 0w-20 in my 06 Civic with the R18 and it is good & smooth. Basically the same oil as Valvoline Synpower. I've heard plenty of good things from Mobil 1 AFE on here, too.

My 1990 Honda Crx Si (pics)

That is a beautiful example of a clean CRX. Tastefully modified. I wish Honda would go back to their roots and make simple & affordable sporty cars like this CRX was in its generation.

    0w-20 in a 2006 Civic?

I bought some Napa Syn 0w-20. I appreciate the input. Not really looking for any gains, I had just been wanting to try something different, and my frankenblend that I'm currently running is just leftovers from previous changes in our Hondas except for the lone qt of PP.
