    Hmm dont flame me but...

Hmmm. I think 52~57 era Chevy's also calls for the 10w 30, and 5w 30(if avaible) for the yearlong... Also the '57 Studebaker calls those 5w 30 specs in the user manuals if memory serves right. It was interesting for me to discover that 5w 30 was avaible at the 50's. So analogy repeats: this...

    CD2 Engine Detergent

I have used it for 5K kms... added to a fresh mineral 5w 30 Mobil on a V6 GM with hyd. lifters. I'm using the same car for 5 years so I'm used to how the engine's sounds get different as the oil deteriorates. I can't say CD2 lenghten the oil's performance, but improved it during the use...

    AC Delco PF Filter Problems?

I use PF47. Last time on a rush before a long travel had to change the oil at the first place I've saw. The term "amateur" would be an exageration for their skills, they tighten it with wrench... it was bended already at the install. Second time, 8mo/5oookms after I went to a professional place...

using diesel engine oils in gas engines, good or bad?

I see that an oil rated both as API Csomething and Ssomething shouldn't be harmful to a gas engine. I got involved with the viscosity and the extra additives in a diesel oil but couldn't find a 10w 30 synthetic diesel to list also SJ or something close. And here's what I've done just a week...

Good oils for cleaning up a motor?

Well, I know you don't want to use additives... I used the CD-2 oil detergent on my 84 Chev. 2.8 V6 at ~120K miles. Since I'm not a professional I don't know what this should give but engine is now noticably quieter, especially at the 65+ mph speeds. Quietness also noticable at the idle but...

    ARCO "Graphite Oil"

Elf (of Europe) has a product called Molygraf which claims there is moly and graphite in it. Unfortunately it only comes with 10w 40 viscosity. If I can find a 10w or 5w 30 I'd try it. Next time at the supermarket I will look at the color... if memory srves correctly it wasn't so black may be a...

    Slick50 story (opinions wanted)!

I have a similar experience... Used some product called "fin25+Teflon" after an engine flush. It was a smaller ~7oz/200ml bottle which made me to think the ptfe and whatever else in it shouldn't be excessive. Also it was advised on the bottle that not to use again before 60oookm after the...

    How many different filter makers?

Mann online catalogue does offer a filter for GM 2.8 V6 vin:B. Which supposed to use ACDelco PF47 or (PF1225). But it says "no equivalent for PF47 ACDelco- Delphi" on the cross reference... Hmmm... strange... to use or not to use. They are cheaper here than the ACs.

OK to use API CH-4 on an old fashioned gasoline engine?

Opps, sorry, I should have missed this one from Dr. T... What made me to worry and ask was that there wasn't any S_ standard mentioned on the bottle. posted October 07, 2002 12:34 AM ---------------------------------- "First I'd like to address Patman's post re: Delvac use in a gasoline...

OK to use API CH-4 on an old fashioned gasoline engine?

Hi all, I'm new at this board. The data on this whole site really amazed me. You can't find many places to ask such a 'veird' question. It has been discussed at various places that an diesel oils are designed to withstand with higher pressures, higher levels of oxidation, and have better...
