    Food Grade Grease

Amsoil has a food grade grease and it's not even that expensive. Like 9.xx for a tube. Not really using it to its "potential" but, who cares if it works.

    Summer tires in Winter?

One year I was commuting to work so I had th local tire place throw snow tires on my Subaru. 35k a year or more. When I came to get it, turns out they were studed. I am not an aggressive driver in the snow. Even with snow rise and awd I don't like to take chances. I think at the time the car...

    Amsoil Dominator

I run dominator in some of my highly beat on turbo cars. It is in both my 300zx twin turb that is modded and my Volvo v70r. Seems to be a great oil in very demanding conditions. I wouldn't hesitat to buy it again. The only two things are 1 it's red in color, I could see some people not...

    Replacing struts on my zx2

Also look into Monroe Oe spectrum line. I wouldn't recommend them for some one looking to make a track monster car, but if your just trying to get back to a factry ride the monroe will do that and pretty much every year they have a buy 3 get one free deal. You may be able to go thrrough a shop...

91 honda civic Si 1.6L 5 speed tranny

I did some research when I had my 92 civic hatch with turbo d16z6. My bottom end had almost 300,000 mi on it and it took being turbocharged without any fuss, talk about Honda overbuilding these cars. Honda used to spec 10w30 as fill in the trans. Then at some point the recommendation changed to...

    Pressure Washer Pump

I had an auto shop teacher point out that it's the on/off cycles that seem to kill the electric home owner style units. I just keep the trigger locked on all the time and turn off the unit if needed. I have yet to kill the pump on one yet. You will use it for all kinds of jobs. If your doing...

    1964 Corvair Turbo

One of the things I like to do when the car has a turbo that is only oil cooled (in fact I do it on all of my turbo cars out of habit) is after a hard run with lots of boost when you shif back into neutral or push the clutch in instead of letting the rpms fall to idle speed I will blip the...

    Recharging AC

Unless you ready to apnea some time learning and mony buying the right tools, leave ac to the pros. At the very minimum you would need to buy a set of gauges, a vacum Venturi or real vac pump if you don't have a super big compressor, 2-3 cans of r-134, some r134 with leak dye, a black light...

    2005 Volvo S60 2.5T Oil Recommendation?

So I know this is more severe duty than most on here but I have been running the Amsoil dominator racing 10w30 in my 2004 V70R. On at least two different times this motor has seen 9,500-10,000 rpm. This is what happens when Volvo makes a dodgy cable shifting mechanism that feels like...

    Trick Shift

I ran trick shift in one of my modded auto trans Eagle Talon awd turbo cars, that trans took trick shift and didn't blow up but those trans are known for being bullet proof. It did shift harder, but not nearly as hard as a shift kit with the trans lab black spring of death, which was nothing...

Is there a difference in brake fluid?

There are a ton of super high boiling point fluids, too many to list. One of the best is ate super blue. Brake fluid is hygroscopic, which means it will absorb water just from being in contact with air. Ate understands this and sells their fluid in metal contaners.

    Silly hypocrisy in refrigerants...

Looks like its time to stock up cans of r134a. SAMs club has the big containers, but I'm pretty sure you need an EPA license to buy the big ones.

How much is sound deadening going to cost?

I have used both stuff from raamat and second skin audio. I spent 8 years running install bays for both CC and best buy. Never ever buy dynamat, they have way too much mark up for something so simple. We used to sell door kits for $100 they are even more now and the employee cost was $33...

Anyone here consider MPG a distant factor

My most current car purchase is a Jaguar S type R. supercharged 4.2 v8 I have been averaging 18 mpg. My wife and I work from home so there is no commute to work, and it is my 3rd car so I have other cars that get better numbers. I'm having a lot of fun with 400 hp and a boat load of torque.
