I have those in my house and I think everyone on my street does. No issues. They trip and everything like they are supposed to. No issue with Erie insurance.
Part number cross references to a copper plug. Hard to believe that someone would counterfeit a copper plug, or at least I have never heard of that happening.
We need pictures to better assess. I would have used a regular roofing tar to patch.

Isn't -11.7% long term fuel trim barely out of spec and going to be difficult to troubleshoot? Perhaps waiting for it to get worse is going to make it easier to figure out.
