Yep, it's a hydraulic tensioner, it's amazing how tight it is to release the tension! Which is probably a good sign, should last a long, long time. on the Scion tC, to remove the tensioner, you have to remove the one engine mount and jack the engine up so that one long bolt will come out...

I do remember the Toyota pump needed that FIPG sealant. And yup 06 that's the same year as mine, gave up within the warranty. New one supposed to last a long, long time, so far, so good.

What about what happens when that factory glass ages and the UVR and IR rejection begin to diminish? No glass can absorb UV or reject it indefinitely. That's where the aftermarket will come in and supplement/restore the UV and IR rejecting or absorbing characteristics.
