Help Us Help Our Daughter - Rav 4, CR-V, CX-5/50, or Other?

I think with the Pilot you can get a wiring harness adapter that cancels the cylinder deactivation. On the Mazda no such thing exists.

    Post Your Latest CAF Change!

I think you're 100% onto their scam. I've had cars that sat around and had engine and cabin air filters not get dirty just sitting there. Everyday you hear something even lower than low trying to get a quick sale. sick.. but thanks for the update.

mmm crunchy! lol.. but seriously, what a mess, glad you @Urshurak776 helped out and took an HONEST look at her car! good job! (y) I have witnessed really dumb people lately that claim they're "professional" and if they lose one more brain cell they would be a talking monkey. It's like an...

Leased Dodge Daytona EV customer shares his negatve experience. He also owns a Durango Hemi.

oh wow a Chrysler/Dodge vehicle WITH electrical problems?! color me surprised! /sarcasm.. Anyone here remember the Dodge Neon electrical fires in the ignition column of the 90s? That company hasn't been able to do anything correct with electrical for years.. but hey let's make a seat that's...

    Toyota Oil Filters

I'm post #12.. I wasn't saying I know Toyota filters have a problem with flow. I was referring to the consensus on this forum about the old test saying it didn't filter a lot, then people started saying things about the Toyota filters prioritizing flow over filtration. So no I don't want to...

How to identify a Continental brand serpentine belt?

Yep, it's a hydraulic tensioner, it's amazing how tight it is to release the tension! Which is probably a good sign, should last a long, long time. on the Scion tC, to remove the tensioner, you have to remove the one engine mount and jack the engine up so that one long bolt will come out...

How to identify a Continental brand serpentine belt?

I don't mean to keep commenting every time you post but... I gotta! It's like you've worked on my engine, lol! :D Yup, that tensioner is like concrete! Have to lean into the breaker bar holding the socket on that release pivot of the tensioner! That tension is insane! And I need a 2nd person...

    Toyota Oil Filters

There was always the debate on this forum indicating for the Toyota filter, that flow was more important than filtering, as you found. But if that was so important for Toyota, why did they (based on a decades old test, not able to apply it to today's filter media) prioritize flow over...

    Toyota Oil Filters

Also, the quality of the Toyota brand filters is excellent. Cheap price and good quality, not much to complain about with that track record. (y)

    Reliable water pump brands?

I do remember the Toyota pump needed that FIPG sealant. And yup 06 that's the same year as mine, gave up within the warranty. New one supposed to last a long, long time, so far, so good.

    Reliable water pump brands?

oh ya Toyota had a parts recall (under the guise of a service bulletin) for many of those 2AZ-FE engine water pumps. I know, I had mine replaced under warranty. The bearing wasn't sealed against coolant and it caused the shaft to wobble. It's probably why you had a little bit of play and no...

Alternatives for Toyota rubber plug - parking brake adjustment

wow that's really sad.. it's about $4 list price around here in Michigan.. I have that same plug on my tC's rear disc "top hat". I've not found anything cheaper than that, the aftermarket was more $$.. sorry you had to pay that much.. ☹️

How to identify a Continental brand serpentine belt?

oh that Hampstead NY address.. You need to do a Google street view of that place. I think that's the one is a hole-in-the wall shop that if you change the date of the image you'll see them stocking alternators outside! Oh sure, I really like my electrical parts to get wet.. lol.

Fluid on brand new shock (out of the box)

Yup return it.. been down this road before, save yourself the time, return it. Oh wait, it's from RockAuto? Not surprised, another defect/damaged/faulty unit.. same story, different day.

How to identify a Continental brand serpentine belt?

Another RockAuto tale of disappointment.. not surprising from RA. But I post this I'll get the people who will say RA is awesome and they've never had any issues with them. With that kind of luck they should play the lottery immediately! The best thing to do is return it and buy elsewhere...

    Complaint about aftermarket parts

@FowVay I completely agree!! have seen this before.. It's amazing how many times I find that the Toyota part is not that much more $$$ than the aftermarket. On one aftermarket part it was more money for my friend's Mazda CX-5 than what Mazda wanted for it! insane.. but that's not helping...

High UVR and IRR on Factory Glass - diminishing value of aftermarket window tint?

What about what happens when that factory glass ages and the UVR and IR rejection begin to diminish? No glass can absorb UV or reject it indefinitely. That's where the aftermarket will come in and supplement/restore the UV and IR rejecting or absorbing characteristics.

    2025 Toyota Rav4 engine oil update, 5w-30

haha... thanks for being honest with that update! I was thinking of a 0w-30 for my friend's direct injection CX-5 2.5L engine, for the fuel dilution. so I can see why you were thinking that. The specs on a lot of 0W-30 looks really good lately! Oh ya there's an insane amount of choices but...
