Thanks for the reply The car is a VW Polo GTI with a twin charged 1.4L engine. Just been doing a bit of reading, it seems like low SAPS are important for direct injection motors to keep valve deposits down. What are the best oils in this regard? Feel free to make suggestions.

I have tried both Silkolene Titanium Chain Gel and Motul Factory Line Chain Lube. The Motul Factory Line Chain Lube is definitely superior to the Silkolene product I tried. I can't comment on any other product because I have not tried anything else. I really like the Motul Factory Line Chain Lube

Just another update. I bought the Valvoline Synpower 5w-40 (got it on sale) I am using it at the moment all is good. At some point in time I may do a used oil analysis.

Just some further info. Apparently only the 5w40 is compatible with wet clutch

I discovered another option Valvoline Synpower full synthetic is OK to use in motorcycles with wet clutches http://www.datateck.com.au/lube/valv_auMS/ I have a 2008 CB400 just for your info

The filtering medium of the Purolator Synthetic looks very much like that used in the Royal Purple oil filters

Shell Australia (at least the guy I spoke to) says the Rimula R6 formulation is quite a bit different than Rotella T6, and not that suitable for motorbikes. I will ring Shell Today to see if I can get more detailed specific information. If anyone else knows more about this product's chemistry please elaborate a bit more. Specifically Rimula R6 vs Rotella T6. I noticed the Rimula R6 does not say JASO MA.

Hi Everyone In Australia we do not have Shell Rotella T6, but we do have Shell Rimula R6. It looks like it is the same oil just with a different name. Can anyone advise whether it is the same oil or if not still suitable for motorcycle use (shared gearbox and engine sump)...
