I just installed a 195* thermostat, and temps still will not go over 189*, as with the last one. Reading is through the obd port. What can I do to get it to run between 198* and 210*? I can't find a thermostat rated higher then the one I already have. This truck has one heck of a cooling system...

with my 2002 Volkswagen Jetta TDI. It won't start. The engine turns over, and that's about it. I don't notice anything wrong upon visual inspection. It was running fine the day before. The codes are: P0304, P1562, P0128, P0674. Any thoughts are welcome.

Is there any known empirical evidence in support of the assertion, a higher grade/thicker oil will protect an engine better, rather then the chemistry of the oil itself? In other words, is the suppression of engine wear contingent on the chemical formulation of an engine oil, or it's thickness?
