Floor jacks for 3/4 ton trucks

I saw some similar use at a tire place. I asked about the jacks they were using, and said," these jacks must be OK if you use them here commercially." He told me, "Nah. They last about a month for us." Was some cheap looking imports.

    Oil change disaster

I do this on the Nissan Frontier, since I have a supply pf crush washers. Depending on the vehicle's sealing washer -- if it's flat soft aluminum or plastic -- it probably doesn't get changed.

Gap the spark plugs or leave them?

If indeed the original spec is 1.1mm (accurate only to the tenths place), you might think that could be rounded from 1.051 to 1.149. In which case correct could be 0.041 to 0.045. I'd say leave them.

    Fluid Film in Illinois

What part of Illinois? I'm in Illinois, near St. Louis. Took my new Nissan Frontier to Krown Rustproofing, in St. Louis, and just returned for the annual re-application. Why they are there in St. Louis, I'm not sure; the next closest Krown outlet is in Ohio. While I was in there last fall...

Mercon V in Jeep transfer case

Regarding those who cautioned its use in transfer cases.. right, I know there was some issue. The 97 Explorer in fact, using Mercon V in the trans still called for Mercon in the transfer case. Thanks everybody.

Mercon V in Jeep transfer case

I am preparing to get rid of my 97 Ford Explorer, which will leave me with a good supply of Mercon V fluid that I never got around to using. I'm proposing to use it in the transfer case of the 02 Jeep Liberty, since that is a NP 231, part-time box with no clutches. Am I OK to go this way ? What...

    Crownvic.net?

I have been there since 2003, and my interest has waned considerably recently. I'll be getting rid of my '89 CV soon. I have gotten good information there when I needed it. In 2011 I learned what I needed to know to replace my heater core. Nasty Job.

    10 Years at BITOG

Saturday was my 10th anniversary here. Member 471. Glad to see we're still alive and thriving. I've learned a lot here. Not here as often now as I used to be, but still here when I can and when I have questions. I'm still drawing down my big oil stash I accumulated based on recommendations here.

Please Advise: ATF for 1988 Town Car AOD trans

In my 89 Crown Vic I have continued to use the Dexron 3/Mercon, although I did use up what was left of Mercon V from my daughter's Ranger pickup after she traded it off. I recently purchased some to do the filter/pan this Spring and I still went with a Dex3/Mercon from Advance Auto, mostly...

Post what you used in your first car.

1949 Dodge... in 1965. I used variously Pennzoil, or Havoline. Straight weights changed with the season. The latter because my neighbor's dad, who had been an auto mechanic before the war, but who THEN was an electrician at the coal mine, said of the wheel bearing grease, " That smells like...

    Odd pricing at Wally World

Quote: What do you mean by "the pricing of quarts is exactly opposite the pricing of the 5 qt. jugs" ? The Motorcraft oil is more expensive than the others in a 5qt. bottle, but by the single quart it is cheaper.

    Kroil failed me

I've always been a believer in Kroil. I have some left of a gallon can with a date I wrote on it of 1985.. still works. Of course in that time I've gone through a number of "deals" that they offer on two-for-one or the like on aerosol cans. This time I was not able to loosen the brake...
