Audi A4 vs Volkswagen CC...or good old Passat?

I have a 2012 CC 2.0T. I've owned it less than 1 year. It was a mistake, and I'll be selling it soon. I've only driven the car about 2000 miles. It has a total of 82,000 miles. In just the past nine months, I've had a failure of the clockspring in the steering wheel and the rear wheel sensor...

Buying car parts: go cheap, mid grade or expensive?

Depends on the part. Will its failure likely kill someone? If yes (brakes, steering, suspension, tires), then I buy the best I can afford without putting myself in a financial bind. Everything else get mid-grade, unless it's something that takes 6+ hours to replace.

    Sludged filter

So the oil actually flowed from the oil pan, and you have the audacity to call it "clumpy sludge"? That's what we call "slightly increased viscosity".

    HAVE A NICE DAY

In the Southern tradition, I prefer "Well, bless your heart" as the terminus to an unpleasant conversation. When my grandmother would say it, you'd get a chill. Kind of like waiting on a lightning bolt.

    Best Small Business Mail Host?

You might consider asmallorange.com. They have an $8/mo plan with unlimited email accounts. Don't be surprised if Yahoo tries to hold your domain hostage. They did it to me about 12 years ago.

Problem with Synthetic Oil in a Science Project

I would expect a silicone oil to work better. Maybe DOT5 brake fluid.

    cholecystectomy

Had mine out about 3 years ago. I was very sore for 3 or 4 days. Turns out mine was difficult to remove because it was completely packed full of stones no bigger than lettuce seeds. It took years to get a proper diagnosis because the stones didn't show up on ultrasound. No dietary...

    Rush officially calls it quits

My all-time favorite band. Saw them the first time on the Power Windows tour in 1985. I was 14 and it was my first concert. Also saw the Hold Your Fire, Presto, Roll the Bones, Counterparts, and Test for Echo tours. The best show was the Counterparts tour. I got to see the opening show of the...

At what % CCA do you replace your batteries?

JHZR2, that internal resistance is troubling. It should be <5 milliohms on a healthy battery, <4 milliohms on a new battery. I'm guessing that your plates are sulfated.

Dave Ramsey on new car purchases.

I recall from my college days the advice my personal financial planning instructor gave about car purchases: 1. Finance one car in your lifetime: the first one you buy after completing college and getting a job. 2. Finance it for 5 years, drive it for 10 years. The second 5 years you own it...

    financial software

I use GNUCash and highly recommend it. It's strict adherence to the double-entry bookkeeping method will frustrate the uninitiated. Truthfully, Quicken uses the same system, but dumbs it down to the point that it's invisible to the user. If you prefer commercial software (GNUCash is open...

    Motorola Droid Maxx?

I have a Droid Maxx. Love it. I picked it specifically for its battery life, which is exceptional. If necessary, it can easily go 2 days between charges, 3 if I'm not really using it.
