    1996 Chevy Pickup update

I posted my purchase of a ‘96 Chevy ext cab P/U I guess 3 years ago. At 242k miles it took an ignition module and cam position sensor to make it run correctly. I recently put a new battery, cap, rotor, plugs and wires on it and at 260k miles it runs fantastic. Unbelievable for the miles / age...

Went looking at new Corolla's with/for a buddy. Nope, not happening.

$949 in doc fees?! That’s not happening. I’d offer them $200 in doc fees and if they don’t like it, walk. Pure profit center.

    NISSAN Frontier Quality/Durability

IIRC the current frontier doesn’t have cylinder deactivation, which equates as a plus for me. Right price, 0% loan I’d buy a base model in a heartbeat.

Keep or sell/trade Elantra with CVT issues

I’d keep driving it. At least wait till times get bad enough that 0% financing comes back (if ever).

2021 Kia Soul LX 2.0 6 speed. Castrol Edge 5w-20 with Kia filter. Every 3750 miles, Kia’s idea of severe service. Just firing a Kia off constitutes “severe service”.

Update 2024 Refrigerator Satisfaction by Brand

Brunette. She did not recommend LG or Samsung based on compressor longevity and parts availability. I bought the the Hisense because it was cheaper; she had plenty of GE, Maytag etc in the same configuration but more $$$ and you’re cleaning the condenser and fan twice a year. According to her...

Update 2024 Refrigerator Satisfaction by Brand

I bought a Hisense bottom freezer / top fridge on the advice of the sales girl who knew what she was talking about. Her advice: 1) keep it simple -no ice or water in the door - use ice trays; ipad like screens in the door are also a no-no. Avoid telematics, and last but not least - do not buy...

Best high mileage oil for leaks

I’m using Valvoline high mileage in my 260k mile Chevy pickup. It makes 3k mile OCI’s without adding oil, still leaks a bit though. I guess I could regasket the engine or just let it roll. You already which way I went….

Using Stihl HP Ultra 2 stroke oil as an Ester additive

Maybe could give it a whirl as an additive in an old Briggs and Stratton powered lawn mover. They’ll digest most anything.

Oh she'll need some paint after this one.

I have a friend who crashed an Acura and had it towed to the dealer. After assurances that their body shop was so good no one would ever know it’d been crashed, he said, “Good, I’d like to trade it in”. As soon as the insurance company cut him his check he did indeed trade it in for a new...

    Asking about Mazda’s cylinder de-activation

Man I tell you I’d love another Mazda; the prices are ok but nearly every model I like (or can afford) has cylinder de-activation, which I’ve heard bad things about. Does anybody here own a Mazda with high mileage with this stuff that hasn’t goofed up?
