Are those cab and chassis trucks or just regular F250s or 350s?

Hey Beer Can, I see that changes #2 and #4 were at least 9K plus miles. Is that when the truck told you to change it? I heard the 17+s ECMs take the OCIs out further than the 11 to 16s. Why was change #3 below that? I'm going to imagine that #5 and #6 are further out as you find a happy medium...

10w30 HDEO or 15w40, others. What's in your engine?

I've been using MC 10w30 since I bought my truck. I let the truck tell me when to change. I found three 6 gallon Bags in a box MC10w30 this past summer for 50 bucks each at a local oil distributor. This current oil was the first oil of those to be used.

post your latest transmission lubricant change.

2016 F350 6.7 6R140 Truck now has 47.4k miles but did a pan drain, drop, filter change and refill with MC Mercon LV at 31k miles.. Added 17 oz, I believe, of Lubegard Platinum to trans fluid. I did the transfer case also and used MC XL12 and LubeGard also. I thought I heard Mercon LV is to be...

The inner workings of a 6R140 transmission

Hey mattd, quick question if you don't mind. Have you ever seen any problems with the range selector that is now internal to the 6R140? On another forum, there is a guy with a 6.7 that says when he shifts into reverse, the truck doesn't go into reverse or takes some time. I'll copy and paste...

The inner workings of a 6R140 transmission

This is my first diesel. I've been subscribed to Diesel Power magazine for years. I've always said I'm a diesel truck owner that hasn't bought the truck yet. My dad drove truck and I used to go with him as a kid. I used to love the sound of the engine and the smell of grease, diesel fuel and...

post your latest transmission lubricant change.

Last year in September, I did a pan drain and drop on my 6R140 trans. That was at 31450 miles. Truck now has over 38k miles. Cleaned the pan, factory donut magnet, added two small high temp K&J rare earth magnets to the pan, new factory filter and bolted pan back up. I added 7.5 quarts of Mercon...

I live south of Buffalo or about 45 minutes from Niagara Falls. You're not far from me at all. I appreciate the welcome. I plan on maintaining this truck and keeping it after it's paid off. These trucks are too expensive to upgrade all the time, but some guys like new trucks with new payments. I...

The inner workings of a 6R140 transmission

The reason I believe they are going with more gears is to try to get as much mileage out of the New trucks as possible. With more gears, the engine stays in the power band and uses less fuel because the 6.7 doesn't have to work so hard because of less RPM drop. Just my 2 cents. But my 16 feels...
