what is the best gas for your vehicle ?

I too like the Shell gas, but my Corolla seems to like the Esso stuff as well. The Sunoco gas makes the car run smoother, but it also seems to negatively affect fuel mileage by roughly 75km or more per tank. I would think though that when all stations in Toronto switch to 5% Ethanol it won't...

Differences between Redline, Royal Purple, and Mobil 1

I don't understand this mileage thing at all. I switched to Redline 5W30 in my Corolla, and have been getting the best fuel mileage I've ever got. I mean the difference between a thinner Mobil 1 and the Redline was not even measureable.

Toyota Going 5W20 across the Board, or just 06+ Models

Walked into a couple Toyota dealerships in my area, and found a chart that tells you which models and years can take which viscosity of oil. The 5W20 can be used in most vehicles dating back several years. I can't remember which, but I know that my 05 Corolla is allowed to use 5W20. That goes...

    Toyota Corolla and Redline 5w30

I've been using Redline 5W30 for the last two OCI and so far, I love this oil. The engine seems to run smoother and easier. The oil definately has reserves as far as additives are concerned. Lately with the use of this oil I am getting 5.8L/100km conbined cit/hwy, and I'm not even babying it...

Has anyone picked a different oil...

I switched my 05 Corolla over to Redline 5W30. So far I like the oil. My mileage seems to have improved slightly. My best in mix driving is now 5.8L/100km. That's only hair away from what the fuel economy rating says it will get on the Hwy of 5.3L/100km

    Toyota Transmissions

I have had the same issue as of late. I've tried the Amsoil MTG and in the warmer weather I did not like it. The tranny actually developed slight seal seep and light grinding in the warmer weather. After switching to Redline MT-90 I've had no seepage, and good shifting. I think the next time I...

    When To Check Oil (Engine)

Yes indeed. After an engine is hot and left to sit for 5min or so, all the oil that is going to be in the crankcase is going to be there. I've used both methods to check oil. Like some experiences here, I've rarely seen much difference. My strict belief though is that you'd want a reading with...

    When To Check Oil (Engine)

Best checked when warm. Let the car sit for 5-10min after shutdown and check.

Saw a Yaris Sedan on the road today, it was kewl.

This is what I didn't like about it when I drove it. The car is a little underpowered, and the suspension could have been done a little better to make the car more stable at highway speeds. It does ahve a good seating position, and good view of the road. A great city car! For highway use, I'd...

    Another Havoline/RedLine Mix

As it turns out, Havoline is not available in my area. I could have sworn I saw it at Wally world. My only next available option is to go to Ford and buy some Motorcraft to mix with my Redline. As I understand it, you've run this mix right Al?

How bad to idle my brand new Toyota/Scion tC for 8 hours?

Check your manual. In my Toytoa manual it tells me not to idle the car for more than 20min, and that doing so will damage the cars 3Way Catalyst. So in other words. I wouldn't!

Lucas UCL : What makes this product unique?

The thing I like best about Lucas Fuel Treatment is it's "lack" of solvents. It's more for maintaining cleanliness and combating the effects of poor/reformulated fuel quality.

    Havoline SM and 1qt Redline

Well, The Delo idea is a pretty good one. My only issue is that Delo is not an easy find around my area. Havoline and Redline are easy to come by. Not to mention that Redline has a good amount of POE. I kind of want that in there.

    Havoline SM and 1qt Redline

I've been looking around and found that Havoline is a pretty decent dino. They use a good hit of Moly in their SM formula. Would this be a good candidate for 1qt dose of Redline 5W30 to further boost this oils already capable package? The simialrity in formualtion for use of Moly leads me to...

    Pennzoil 5w-30 Dino Toyota 1.8l 4,910 miles

Wow this stuff thinned out to 8.7cSt and still did great. I'd be thinking a good 5W20 would work in this car. I wonder though, since Redline 5W20 has a viscosity of 9.1 and is stable viscosity wise, you could get away with that too? Hmmm

Is Red Line the primo oil?

I don't know about it being primo, but after putting it in my Corolla! I'm hooked. The more I drive it the better it seems to get. The engine is so quiet now I can barely hear it. It runs so smoooooooth!

    Toytota tranny seeping

ok. so then what I'm looking at a bad seal? I've never seen one just go bad. Could it be the synthetic is just creeping? How much is too much before I head to a dealer?

    Toytota tranny seeping

I'm not blaming the oil per say. I was just concerned, that with the onset of the warmer weather my seal has developed a slight leak. It's bizarre, as the tranny was full, and all winter long in the cold temps I've not had any problems. The car is under warranty, and if it continues I'll...

    Toytota tranny seeping

I have an 05 Corolla 5Speed, and today when i took the car in for servie they noticed that the transmission had a small weeping past the akle where it goes into the transmission. Now, since the oil was clean it appears it's recent. Two things to note. 1) I've had Amsoil MTG 75W90 in the case...
