Cold shifting in my manual was slower when it got colder. I went from recommended ATF+4 to MobilTrans SHC-DC and it worked fine, just shifted slower. I think the ATF+4 would have been fine to keep in the G56.

This is not as crazy as it sounds. I do this by first putting plastic drop cloth all around the front of the fridge, creating a "bag". then I insert a shop vac into the end of the bag, and blow out the coils. A lot less mess.

When available, I substitue "rubber" gaskets in place of paper gaskets, or RTV. For example, on my transmission pan. I change fluids with a "drop and fill", so a reusable, non-sticking solution is easier. Same on differentials - Lube Locker type. Works great, but YMMV.

There is a lot of information on the web regarding harmonics and VFDs. I would recommend looking into that BEFORE adding one to your home system. A soft-start, on the other hand, switches over to a contactor once full speed is achieved and has none of the side effects of a VFD. Another issue...

Better make sure your generator can handle the harmonics from the VFD. 3rd and 5th order harmonics will kill a generator at the worst possible time. Check with your genset manufacturer on what they recommend. I do power quality analysis and this is one of the things I look for.
