    New Bridgestone tires ride horribly!

Update after this fiasco….. Although I feel the Bridgestones are a bit on the firm side, I ended up getting the struts warrantied by the guy who installed them. Long story but it now has Monroe Quick struts. It then developed a clunk in the front end. Took it to 2 shops who both said the...

Creaking clunking popping over bumps steering

First set was OEM, second Monroe. It’s definitely not mounts or strut bearings at this point. Noise is exactly the same after changing them twice!

Creaking clunking popping over bumps steering

I have a weird one that’s turning into a parts cannon episode… 2016 Mazda CX-5. I had struts and shocks put on at 95k. With new mounts and bearings. Afterwards it developed a light clunk over bumps. I had it checked. Everything was tight. It’s gotten significantly worse and now creaks and...

    New Bridgestone tires ride horribly!

They’re the special active struts that have the valve that opens up on hard impacts to soften up, but stay stiffer in corners. Meh. They were ok when new but honestly after having so many different brands of aftermarket struts on cars, I’m always gonna stick to OEM. They just work the best...

    New Bridgestone tires ride horribly!

I actually tried 16s and they rubbed on the very top of the steering knuckle! To get 16s to clear I’d have had to get like 30 offset wheels.

    New Bridgestone tires ride horribly!

They do have a taller sidewall by a 1/4 inch. Not much, but thought it would help. 225/70/17 is non existent and a 245/65/17 is getting g into much heavier tires. Hence I went 235/65/17.

Tire pressure calculation for minimum safe pressure?

It rode ok. CX-5s ride pretty firm to begin with. I use a Milton dial gauge which is supposed to be one of the better brands.

Tire pressure calculation for minimum safe pressure?

Came across this webpage that uses a hand calculated method for finding correct tire pressure. https://www.motortrend.com/how-to/1801-the-pressure-where-should-you-run-your-tires What are your thoughts? Is it safe to use? This is in regards to my Bridgestone Turanza Everdrive post about ride...

    New Bridgestone tires ride horribly!

I’m starting to think in general that factory recommended tire pressures are for max fuel economy. Similar to the push for thinner oils. Aside from the disastrously low recommended pressures Ford had for the explorer back in the day, if you look at recommended pressures 20 years ago for...

    New Bridgestone tires ride horribly!

I have a Milton dial gauge. Should be dead accurate. Struts are Koni Special Active with like 5k on them. Ride comfort oriented strut. Got new wheels too. Sparco Assetto that weight 7 lbs less than stock. All this was to help ride comfort. It rode ok with all of the above and the...

    New Bridgestone tires ride horribly!

Previous ones were Yokohama Geolander CV4s. The Bridgestones are actually marketed for ride comfort and low rolling resistance and wear.

    New Bridgestone tires ride horribly!

I might. The other factor is everything I read online says tires do soften up a bit after breaking in. I’ll probably just keep them and run them at 31 psi. According to load calculations that is the equivalent to 35 psi in my previous Yokohama Geolanders since they have a max psi of 51 like...

    New Bridgestone tires ride horribly!

Ok. I got some 235/65/17 Bridgestone Turanza Everdrive tires for my 2016 CX-5 in the hopes the little bit bigger tire would have some more cushioning since the roads here are atrocious. Stock size is 225/65/17. Tire Racks reviews of the new Bridgestones are excellent. Supposed to be very...

    Post your latest oil change

Not a drop. Well, in the summer when it’s hot there’s been a few times where it was about a 1/4 quart low after 5,000 miles.

    Post your latest oil change

2016 Mazda CX-5 95,000 miles Did a nice hot seafoam induction last night when I got home to clear out the carbon on the ol gal. Nice and smoky. Currently dumping Valvoline extended high mileage 0w-20 and putting in a mix of 50/50 Valvoline restore and protect 0w-20/5w-30. Right at 6 months...

    '19 Mazda CX-5, 2.5NA, 121K Miles, 9615 Mile UOA, Pennzoil Platinum 5w30

I’d be doing 10k intervals with that kind of driving conditions as well! HOWEVER, there’s been many reports here with severe fuel dilution in short trip driving in cold weather. My 2016 gets short tripped in winter and the oil reeks of fuel after about 3k. I’d go 5k max under those conditions.

The data sheet showed the ultimate protection to be GTL I think! Definitely a sleeper oil.

    Kirkland 5w20 - 3800 miles - Mazda CX-5 2016 - Coolant!

Ugh. I have a 2016 CX-5 as well. I know some of the later years have issues with cylinder head cracks but didn’t think the early model years do. Wear looks great with coolant in the oil though. Keep adding K-Seal? They make an Ultimate version! I’d get one of the OBDII little gauge...

All - Season vs. All - Weather Tires ?

They’re definitely a tad noisier than a basic touring all season tire, especially when new. Mine are about 8/32 now and they’ve quieted down. Ride comfort is great. They feel like a softer compound, so handling is not like a z-rated performance tire! Probably a step down from a touring tire...

All - Season vs. All - Weather Tires ?

I can definitely say a 3pmsf rated all weather tire is the way to go if you encounter any kind of snow/ice on a regular basis. I put Yokohama Geolander CV4S tires on my AWD CX-5 which are all weather 3PMF rated with a 60k tread wear warranty and they blow away any all season tire I’ve ever had...
