    Chevron 5W-30, 7670 miles, 2005 Honda Pilot

I just got the results back from my second UOA from Blackstone Labs. This is for my 2005 Honda Pilot (3.5L V6). The oil was from the 37,500 mi maintenance that I did. I used Chevron 5W30 conventional oil (leftover from my previous car). This was the second consecutive oil change while following...

    Super Pro Plus 5W20 - 7295 mi - 2005 Honda Pilot

I just got the results back from my first UOA from Blackstone Labs. This is for my 2005 Honda Pilot (3.5L V6). The oil was from the 30k maintenance done by the dealer. They used Super Pro Plus 5W20 conventional oil from a local company (Plymouth Lubricants). I went with such a "long" OCI because...

    UOA Procedure?

I've never done a UOA before, but I'm planning on doing it when I do my next oil change. I ordered a test kit from Blackstone's website and read their procedures on how to take a sample. Does anyone have any advice or hints? I don't want to screw up my test results if I do something wrong...

Using 5W-30 in a new Honda

I recently sold my Acura Integra, so I have a small stockpile of 5W-30 conventional oil sitting in my garage. Our two current vehicles are a 2005 Honda Pilot and a 2007 Honda Accord V6. I don't really want to have the 5W-30 oil go to waste, so I was thinking about using it in both vehicles...

My Wal Mart: 5 ST Filters left. The rest FRAM

Yeah, I noticed that the number of ST filters at the nearby Walmart is dwindling as well. There were actually more Motorcraft filters. I did notice that the newer ST filters come in a different box and different color (blue instead of black)... still looks to be made by Champion Labs however.

    Castrol Syntec

Anyone have any feedback or experience with this oil? I took my car in about a month ago to have the oil changed (I'm too much of a wimp to change the oil when it's freezing outside), and I noticed that they switched from using Castrol GTX to Castrol Syntec. As a side note, when they would use...

    Synthetic vs. Conventional

Besides cost, is there anything where conventional oil is better than synthetic oil?

    Quote button?

I could be wrong, but didn't there use to be a quote button for replying to posts and including the original text? I just noticed today that the icon seems to be missing... at least for me.

    5W-20 oil

My wife and I recently purchased a Honda Pilot. I noticed that it takes 5W-20 oil, so unfortunately, I have to pick up some (all I have is 5W-30 for our other two cars). I noticed that not all oil brands are available in 5W-20. For instance, recently I've been getting Chevron Supreme, but I...

    SureDRAIN

I was at the store over the weekend and saw this product from Fram... http://www.autobarn.net/frasdseries.html Anyone else see this before? It looks/sounds like a great idea, but I wonder how prone the replacement drain plug is to leaking over time?

    OEM Honda Filters

I've heard that the Honda oil filters made in Canada are nothing more than Fram filters... anyone have anything to back this up?

    SuperTech Oil Filter Question

I recently purchased a ST oil filter for my car. When I got home I took it out of the box and looked inside the filter. I noticed that there was some excess glue that dried to the bottom (top?) of the filter. Does anyone think that this will cause a problem? I'd attach a picture, but it's kind...

    Oil Filter Cutting Tool

Anyone know where to get one of these tools to cut open an oil filter cleanly? The lowest price I've seen them is $40 online. I have never seen them at any auto parts or hardware stores.

    Oil Change Interval?

I currently have over 128,000 miles on my car. In the past I have always had the oil changed every 3,750 miles, which was considered "severe maintenance" according to the owner's manual. After doing some research on the internet, I was wondering what people thought about going with the "normal"...

    SuperTech = Fram?

I was at Wal-Mart recently and noticed that the SuperTech oil filter for my car has the same last four digits as the Fram oil filter for my car. Does anyone know if SuperTech filters are now repackaged Fram filters?
