2006 Ford Escape auto trans fluid change questions

There should be a plug. No trans filter. In our '03, about 4 quarts comes out, just refill through the dipstick the same amount. I do a drain and fill once a year the last couple of years, to try to get most of the old junk out. Ours is 4x4.

2006 Ford Escape Limited 3.0l.....New To Me :)

I have an 03 Escape V6 4x4....pretty easy on oil. I have found there is less startup noise with the OE-type Motorcraft oil filter.

    PP for 08 Impreza 2.5i

Non-turbo Subarus are very very easy on oil. Pick nearly anything and you'll be good to go.

What could be wrong with a $500 car?

Those were 2.2L engines, solid as a rock with zero head gasket issues. Run all day long 200K+ miles, I have had quite a few of them. Brakes are cheap, wheel bearing assemblies are plentiful.

Honda Genuine MTL instead of engine oil in this application...shifts much better. I've owned a CRX or 3 in my day

    Subaru WRX as Daily Driver

We pay $120/mo for all three cars listed in my sig line...GEICO. 29 years old, married, both of us listed as drivers. And the Mazda is actually a Grand Am B-Spec road racing car

    Subaru WRX as Daily Driver

PS I've (briefly) owned a 2012 Impreza 2.0i as well with the CVT, liked it a lot, but was bought back as a Lemon due to airbag issues. YMMV.

    Subaru WRX as Daily Driver

I've had an '11 and a '12 WRX. Tons of fun. My 3 and 5-year olds love it, plenty of room for all of their stuff, definitely one of the most fun "family-friendly" cars you can own. Also, a great track toy or autocross car on the weekends, and can handle all kinds of weather. One of the most...

    Shop lighting...

T12 are phasing out at a federal level from the enviro-nuts....T8 is now even considered not as energy efficient. Both T8 and T12 lamps will run off of a T12 ballast (same lamp connectors) but with limited life on the T8. Very very soon you will not be able to buy T12 lamps or ballasts. That...

how long for new car break in?

Yep, change it out if you'd like. I don't think I've ever waited until even 1K miles on any new car.

Best 5w-30 syn for Subaru WRX 2.5L turbo EJ 255

I would use the Subaru OEM Synthetic if you are truly concerned about warranty issues. I ran Pennzoil Ultra 5w-40 Euro in my '11 WRX, traded it in at 18K mi. My '12 WRX is on it's second round of Royal Purple HPS 5w-30. SOA has replaced my '12 Impreza 2.0i under warranty already (Lemon Law...

    Subaru CVT oil?

While my '12 Impreza is stuck at the dealership waiting on airbag parts (pre-recall/warranty issue...long story), I am contemplating future service and maintenance on the car. It's a 2.0i base model with CVT, non-flappy-paddle. Works very well, great fuel mileage, and I have even autocrossed it...

    2012 Subaru Impreza

The WRX got 18-19mpg city, and 24-28mpg highway. Fuel down here is approaching $4/gal and will likely be a dollar higher than that in the very near future. I was also laid off in November, and decided to start my own business. It made financial sense to get a cheaper car with lower operating...

    2012 Subaru Impreza

I can take a few pics, sure. I just pulled the front wheels off to check out the suspension...yep, same as '08-current. Brakes should be the same pad as the '02+WRX...fairly large brakes for a small car! First tank was 30.9mpg, mixed city/highway with a strong crosswind and lots of In the...

    Dual-Clutch Auto trans

I rented a Fiesta and drove it 1200 miles...and may have, uh, rallycrossed it somewhere along the way. Trans felt clunky and awkward around town, but was fine at highway speeds with upshifting/downshifting. The 0 to 1st gear felt like I was riding with a teenager who have never driven a clutch...

    2012 Subaru Impreza

I just traded in my 2011 WRX 5-door for a 2012 Impreza 5-door with CVT. They have made some good changes, including more comfortable seats with nearly 2" longer leg padding, slimmer door panels (to enlarge the passenger volume), moved the A-pillar 8" forward for more room. Underneath it's much...
