    The red powder sounds like what you see when o-rings fail. Could you have damaged them by brushing the chain? Perhaps dirt damaged them? And as has been mentioned, 15mm sounds too tight. Also when it comes to buying a good chain, it's about the chain model not the brand. Try a high end chain...
