I would contact them and have them actually test the Fuel Dilution%. They list it as <1 - Estimate. It looks like they tested the last 3, but decided to estimate it this time. I have noticed they do this on other UOA reports from them as well.

Did Ford Backspec 5w30 from 5w20

My personal opinion is Ford designs everything for 5W-20, but the EB's were shearing 5W-20 down to damaging levels quickly and causing warranty claims that cost money. So they back spec'd them to 5W-30 so they would end up shearing back to a 5W-20 quickly anyway.

    Ford Oil specs

Mobil also confirmed for me that there has not been a formulation change to Mobil1 0W-30 AFE and that the WSS-M2C953-A1 spec will be on the new bottles in the future.

    Ford Oil specs

Mobil just replied: Yes, Mobil 1 Advanced Fuel Economy 0W-30 does meet the WSS-M2C953-A1 specification and is a SAE 0W-30. Please see below and click on the link for confirmation. https://www.mobil.com/English-US/Passenger-Vehicle-Lube/pds/GLXXMobil-1-0W30 And that is the current spec for...

    Ford Oil specs

The other funny thing is on Ford's website there are 4 revisions to my owners manual. 1 and 2 show the A spec and 3 and 4 show the B1 spec. Before I got answers from Valvoline or Mobil, I bought 2 changes worth of Ford Semi Syn that listed the B1 spec. The only owners manual that matters in the...

    Ford Oil specs

I just bought a 2018 Ford Explorer Sport and was looking to see what the story was with WSS-M2C946-B1. I read this thread and also talked it through with my buddy who said I should ask Mobil myself. I also bought a case of Dexos1 Gen2 Napa Synthetic last time it was on sale so I started with...

Best way to document DIY oil changes?

I keep a stash of oil and filters I buy on sale and keep them on shelves in the basement. On the bottles I tape the receipt to them and for the filters I slide the receipt in the box. In cases when I buy multiples at the same time, I make copies and tape those to the bottles and slide in the...

    Sump size trends?

I was just thinking about this myself. We just picked up an 08 Cixic EX Coupe for my kids to use and its R18 has something like a 3.9 quart capacity with the filter change and the Coyote in my Mustang is 8 quarts. I could get 2 OCI's out of the Civic for what I put in the Coyote. It really...

For Those Who Can Drive a Manual...

The car I learned on was my Dad's 1980 280ZX. The first car I owned with a manual was a 1978 Datsun 280Z that we bought at a repo auction.

Auto engine start/stop and effects on engine wear?

No worries. And yes, my (minor) worry is a hot spinning Turbo and no oil pressure. I mean, my Dad has a Fusion with an EB 2.0 in it and it has almost 100k on it. It isn't doing any start-stop nonsense mind you, but he is not one of us... His Fusion is what cars are to most people. It's an...

    Mobil 1 AFE 0w20, Honda Pilot 2016, 3465 mi

Did you notice that on this UOA it says for Fuel dilution % volume 5 - GC? It looks like they didn't actually test the sample from your Pilot for Fuel dilution but did test the sample from your Civic.

    Mobil 1 AFE 0w20, Honda Pilot 2016, 3465 mi

Thanks for posting this UOA. I have been very curious about this since we have a 17 Pilot EX-L that is a mostly a short tripper and an occasional longer trip vehicle as well. So it went from 8.7 to 7.2 @ 100C, but the fuel % I've got M1EP 0W-20 in mine now and will be running a UOA when I...
