New AMSOIL Signature Series formulation rolling out

I’ve only seen the new formula in gallon jugs so far. Is there a date stamp on it?

2003 Honda Accord k24 Valvoline Restore and Protect 5w30

Agree. Sounds like rings to me. But usually blue smoke I think.

Mobil 1 $10 rebate + Fast and Furious Cup

Well it's been a few weeks so I called yet again. First time it was rejected for being "unqualified" (narrator: it was qualified). She manually processed it that time, and said I should be hearing soon. Never heard anything. Called again today. Physical card mailed out a few days ago. No...

Where can you buy 10w-40 restore and protect oil?

I think this post might be helpful for you to understand the difference between winter rating and oil grade.

    Valvoline Restore and Protect

For a brief moment, this oil looked to punch above its weight.

    Valvoline Restore and Protect

Thanks. Yeah that’s the CAS for GTL for sure, but I haven’t seen that on the Valvoline Restore and Protect SDS. I wasn’t aware of any GTL in Valvoline Restore and Protect. I feel like Valvoline uses more middle of the road base oils and puts more into their additive package in general.

    Valvoline Restore and Protect

Yeah if what you’re doing is working for you in an engine not known to have problems, carry on I suppose. You always have the Valvoline Restore and Protect escape hatch if problems arise. I think an issue with newer engines is we may not know they are problematic until later, but if you keep an...

    Did it ever have GTL?

    Valvoline Restore and Protect

I was referring to Valvoline Extended Protection but it looks like I read it too fast. Mobil 1 Extended Performance High Mileage seems like it’s pretty good. Comments on ring cleaning still apply though.

    Valvoline Restore and Protect

Well one cleans rings, keeps them free from deposits, and consistently returns outstanding UOAs. The other appears to be a mediocre group III oil that has been known to stick rings on a meticulously maintained Subaru. Easy choice to me!

2003 Honda Accord k24 Valvoline Restore and Protect 5w30

Is that smoke after you hit the throttle after cruising at highway speeds or after going down a hill with a closed throttle? If you go down a hill with a closed throttle and then stomp on at the bottom, that’s more likely to be valve stem seals. If you cruise along at highway speeds for a few...

The guy who bought this from you won the used car lottery.

Valvoline Restore and Protect Oil Burner Test Results

I would 100% run Mobil 1 ESP 0W-20 or Valvoline Restore and Protect 0W-20 for life. You can also easily run 5W-30 or 0W-30 as well which is what I'd do, but that probably makes some people too nervous. However, people are doing it. Here's a guy running Mobil 1 ESP 0W-30 in his Camry calling for...

Valvoline Restore and Protect Oil Burner Test Results

There is no need to be torn about it. I have seen nothing but negative reports here. I think it's the weakest option in the Mobil 1 line up.

    Valvoline Restore and Protect

Yes this will be very interesting. We know in real world use that it removes deposits and seems to keep them from forming. I wonder if there's a continuous cycle of it laying down deposits and then cleaning them with the active ingredient, so the net result is it runs clean, but the tests will...

Oil Strategy To Prevent Carbon Piston / Ring Deposits ?

Agree. We have one. We hauled an (accidentally) overloaded trailer across country (Uhaul gave us the wrong one...), through mountain passes. Zero issues. Despite bulk oil for its first 50-60k or so, doesn't burn a drop. Doing Valvoline Restore and Protect now, and based on the red color of the...

    2021 Ford F150 3.5L Ecoboost w/45,000 miles oil recommendation?

Not sure. That's bizarre. That's what it looks like on a desktop. I don't use browse on mobile here usually.

Oil Strategy To Prevent Carbon Piston / Ring Deposits ?

We do not, to my knowledge. I think I asked @Pablo about it to see if he had heard anything, and he had not last I checked. I have said the same thing. I hope it was real world driving with stop n go traffic and cold starts.
