I am, using Mobil 1 in my '09 V6 4Runner and Toyota oil filters. Some varish build-up in the oil fill tube. I may change it sooner after five years of this interval to sort of give a periodic "flush".

Yeah, I know. I'm looking at a pail (Redline PN 50106) which would fill both Toyotas and my Ma's Grand Vitara. With the right pail pump, it should be easier than messing around with a pile of little bottles.

An older thread but just my two bits. I checked with a Toyota dealer around here -- $27/litre. Both my 4Runner and Tundra use this oil and it's getting around to the time that both diffs in both trucks need a service. The can (yes, can) said "Made in Japan." The Tundra takes seven to eight...

....but it seems plain old axle gear oil does a good job just as well. No problem with heat and plenty thick to cushion all the intense vibration and shock-loading.

The red is pretty. I've been using Wix filters for the Grand Vitara and the Toyota Pickup but I decided for the next oil change to go with O.E. for these two trucks. The O.E. Toyota filter is made in Thailand. The O.E. Suzuki filter is made in China. The work pants I wear when I change the oil...

If it's so great, why is it so difficult to get?

That gold bottle stuff has been in my '94 Toyota Pickup (front and rear diffs) and my ma's '05 Grand Vitara (front and rear diffs and transfer case) with zero issues.
