Is It A Buyers Or Sellers Market Where You Live ?

Hail the mighty K24! Our bought new by us 2010 Honda Element with the K24 has 255K miles on it. Runs as good as new. It loses about 1/8 quart every 5K OCI. No leaks or seeps anywhere. The K24 is an amazing motor. Scott

Should I use PH7317 Fram oil filters or throw them out?

This^^^. I'm surprised bypass pressure differences were not brought earlier. This is a passionate debate on the Subaru forums. FWIW, I maintain my SIL's 2017 Outback. I won't use a 7317 on her car. I use a Subaru specific Wix. Scott

Wow, Tesla laying off more than 10% of its world wide workforce, two Top Executives leaving

Another Silicon Valley story. I was working onsite helping with a problem ridden project for one of the world's largest banks. These problems were costing the bank several million dollars per day. Their project was a disaster and the woman who lead the bank's team was tough and mean beyond...

Wow, Tesla laying off more than 10% of its world wide workforce, two Top Executives leaving

Yes! I agree! My entire career was spent there. I cannot imagine another place on the planet that has virtually unlimited potential to become so highly rewarded. And just because a person has a fancy degree doesn't mean they are successful. I fired a Purdue graduate. He'd been with the...

Wow, Tesla laying off more than 10% of its world wide workforce, two Top Executives leaving

Yep, people wanting to leverage the crap out of themselves, leaving themselves no financial headroom should things hiccup and not go as planned. Sue and I were friends with a couple who were quite successful. They leveraged themselves to the max, frequently getting 6 figure loans from the...

Wow, Tesla laying off more than 10% of its world wide workforce, two Top Executives leaving

Government regulations? I'm more a fan of financial "regulations", and even then that term is too vague. Instead I like the term "budgetary regulations". No one can constantly spend (and spend at increasingly higher rates!) more money than they earn, the government included. Since I took a...

Wow, Tesla laying off more than 10% of its world wide workforce, two Top Executives leaving

    1) How can the banks be the guardians of their investors capital when we have a fiat currency? In America only 15% of the total of our "cash" actually exists! The other 85% is a ledger item on a spreadsheet. 2) Alan Greenspan is the biggest single reason for many of the financial problems we...

Wow, Tesla laying off more than 10% of its world wide workforce, two Top Executives leaving

No, you don't! One of the biggest myths, in America at least, is that its citizens have property ownership rights. There is no such thing as property ownership when the government has a permanent lien on your property. Making it even worse is that property taxes are reassessed every year based...

The cost of living in 2024....

Speaking for myself, and I'm sure several others, I find no fault in anything you, your daughter, or your family has done. I understand your angst about the current pay for that work, but that your daughter's education will pay off in the long run. Absolutely zero doubt in my mind. Assuming she...

The cost of living in 2024....

I can't say that I disagree with you. Being a Cali native I agree with your comments about NYC and the other eastern states. With respect to California there are indeed areas that have morphed into something I no longer recognize and wouldn't choose to live there. That said, if you know the...

Rebuilt caliper = reseized caliper? Help!

Good point, something I thought about. The fuse I pulled on the MB was for the ABS pump only. Yes, I got an ABS warning on the dash. But at least that right front wasn't dragging anymore! Had the car needed to be inspected I would have simply put the fuse back in. You comment about this...

The cost of living in 2024....

I didn't read all the replies but one of the biggest issues I see with your daughter is where she's living. The pay she's receiving is not very good. My wife made big bucks as an RN in one of the cities in the greater San Francisco Bay Area region. She retired 4 years ago and was making $97/hr...

Rebuilt caliper = reseized caliper? Help!

I think there could be different possibilities - The ABS system: My wife's bought new by us 2006 Mercedes POS had a brake problem that the dealer could never correct. The right front brake dragged at times. Just this one wheel. I finally gave up on the dealer and tried to fix it myself...
