The "service vehicle soon" light on 03 Impala flashes continuously but the codes from the body control module are spurious. What's the downside of ignoring this since replacing the module and programming is about $500 at the dealer?
After service facility changed oil and coolant on my 03 Impala the "service vehicle soon" light came on. I returned the car and they could not find a problem and cleared the computer. Now the light comes on after driving about an hour at high speed. What kinds of problems is this light supposed...

I removed one of the lugnuts on my Toyota Venza to find two washers. Can someone explain their purpose? My guess is that they help you hand torque the nuts cause you can feel the slack going away.

Due to low mileage usage I am looking at changing at six months with about 3K miles. Toyota recommends 0W-20 or 5W-20. I don't expect to reach 100K with this vehicle since I commute via train. What oil would you recommend for a moderate climate?
Any opinions on whether cabin air filters are worth having? I drive with the windows open much of the time so I was thinking of chucking the cabin air filter. They appear to be an innovation designed to add to the service dept's profits.

I got some used steel wheels at the salvage yard for my winter tires. After cleaning them there is still some residual rust on the rims and a few nicks probably from previous weights. Any thoughts on how this might affect mounting or holding air?
I noticed some small cuts in the tire bead on my all seasons that are now in storage. They have been mounted several times. Does anyone know if these small cuts normally result from tire changing or should I find another shop to mount my tires?
Any suggestions on removing oem radiator hose clamps? The lower clamp on 03 Impala (3.8 eng.)is mounted with the tabs facing downward right above the transmission lines and access is tight.
