    M1 0w20 5K 2004 Honda Accord V6

Here's my 2nd UOA. Accord 6 speed manual. OEM filters. No make up. Car driven 80% freeway 20% city. I do put my foot in it from time to time. OC history: Car bought 4/04. Factory fill in for 3,793. Next Honda 5W20 until 6,839. Next Honda OEM 5W20 until 9,834 (numbers to the left). Then went to...

    2004 Honda V6 Honda oil 5w20 3K miles

I was actually thinking of going to a 0w30 to try to improve the results (GC/M1).

Here's my first UOA. Accord 6 speed manual. OEM filters. No make up. Car driven 80% freeway 20% city. I do put my foot in it from time to time. OC history: Car bought 4/04. Factory fill in for 3,793. Next Honda 5W20 until 6,839. Next Honda 5W20 until 9,834. So this oil's been in for 2,995...

    Honda 5W20, 7519 miles, 2003 Honda Accord V6

Thanks. For comparison to mine, how hard do you drive the car? I have the 6-speed, and I admit I have my foot in it a little too often. I've also switch to M1 0w20 now, but thinking I might go with GC.

    Honda 5W20, 7519 miles, 2003 Honda Accord V6

I was going to go back to the dealer, since their OCs are quite reasonable ($23), but then I had this vision of the tech forgetting to get a sample, and just getting some from his waste oil container. BTW, I'm waiting for a UOA now; same engine, same oil.

10W-30 instead of 10W-20, Honda Accord, LE, 2001

I think you can put just about anything in the I-4 Honda engine. All the UOAs seem good.

Went to my local Wal-Mart and....

Same here. Can't get 0w20 M1 in my local Walmart. Have to go an old, more run down one. Racerjk: You're not in the spirit of things yet. Stock up! You need to have an oil collection in your garage. It's essential! :-)

Is Viscosity the Least Important Aspect of a Oil?

I've wondered the same thing, Gene. And while there's lots of good points made in this discussion, I don't hear much proof of the criticality of viscosity. I've mainly started to wonder about this since the same car will specify radically different viscosities depending on the the country (not...

    Mobi1/Redline Brew For 2004 Dodge SRT-4 Turbo 2.4 L

Sorry if I missed it, but did you run any straight M1 10w30 UOAs in this car as a means of comparison?

    Zaino leather in a bottle

I know several others use it. My Honda's 3 months old, and I decided to give the Zaino a try. This is my first car with leather interior. I was surprised how easy it was. Wipe it it on, wait a while, and done. No buffing or rubbing. 3 month old leather looks pretty good anyway, but this brought...

    ONE FOR THE BOOKS

Assuming you have a reasonable OCI, I'm really not clear on how much you can influence engine wear with different oils. There's UOA data, that indicates one oil may, for example, have twice the wear metals of another oil, but the relationship between those figures, and actual engine longevity...

    More oil capacity...a bad thing?

I don't know why I was thinking they'd be serial. Yes, makes perfect sense. I need to go googling, and see what these setups look like.

    More oil capacity...a bad thing?

If you do add more filtering, wouldn't you need to increase the oil pressure? Seems like after going through the extra filtering, that your flow would be diminished.

Mobil 1: 100% synthetic base stocks? Please settle this.

Being new, I was never quite sure of the reason for all the Castrol bashing. Now, after reading the article, I wonder why you guys aren't bashing Castrol even more ;-) I was going to start using some GC, but now I'm honestly wondering if I should support a company like this.

    I hate dust

I agree with the 303 recommendation. Great for dashs. I apply, and give it good buffing, and it looks like new.....not "Armorall shiney". In between I use Grab-it dry cloths. There's no chemicals on them, and they pick up all the dust very nicely. One minor thing - be careful not to drag the...

    Best tire for Accord MT6

Thanks for the suggestions. I've spent some time at tirerack. I paraticipate in a forum where one of the tirerack reps participates. He suggested I go with the same model. They liked it in their road test. Main thing that bugs me is that the user reviews don't seem that good. I'll take a hard...

    Techron and Lead in UOA

Wasn't the lead being leached from somewhere in the motor? There's certainly no lead in the product.

What are you gonna do with all those SL oil when the new oil come out?

I'm a bit surprised that the oil companies haven't started putting freshness dates on oil. I suspect they could rationalize that in some way, and that most consumers would buy into it. [ June 09, 2004, 11:13 PM: Message edited by: mountainhouse ]
