Intro and seeking used oil drums for small shop

Call around to a few specialty oil companies in your area, the ones that deliver gas and oil to job sites. They should have some one hand. I can get re-furbished ones for 25 in my area so the 'scrap' ones would be cheaper since they are not cleaned nor have a fresh coat of paint. Call around...

    Shift Cable Bushing

I'm going to take some measurements and see if any of the aftermarket ones will work. My other option is that the end of the cable in which the bushing goes into might be removable so that if I buy a new cable, I can just swap the ends. I'll also check Ebay and etc... to see if I can find other...

    Shift Cable Bushing

Hello, I own an 2008 Dodge Avenger R/T 3.5L 6-Speed Auto that needs a Shift Cable Bushing at the transmission. Dodge does not sell the bushing separate, only as an assembly for ~100 bucks delivered. I would like to avoid having to do the whole Cable if possible and just do the Bushing. So the...

    Purolator PL14610 Clones?

Just circling back around on this. The filters arrived in great shape 3 days earlier then estimated. They are CarQuest White cans (R85356, B4620). That's about all that I know about them, lol. I'll run them and may cut a few open to see how they are performing. One thing that is different then...

    Purolator PL14610 Clones?

Bullwinkle, Thank you for the lead to the 'private label' WIX filters. I never knew these were available but luck has it, they are and now I have a dozen arriving next week so I will be good for a while. Everyone, Thank you for your responses. One of the key reasons why I do the 5k interval...

    Purolator PL14610 Clones?

I guess my original question may have been too vague. I am looking to see who makes a 'clone' or better for the PL14610. I have used the cross reference sites but they list based on fit and pressure, not on quality. My current change interval is as follows: Run new oil/filter for 5k, change...

    Purolator PL14610 Clones?

I am wondering who makes a clone of the PL14610 filter from Purolator? I have been following them the last couple of months and I can't seem to get them below 6.50. My best option right now is Amazon at 6.50 w/ an additional 10% off but would like to do better if possible. So, who make an...

12 point versus 6 point wrenches

Stanley, Harbor Freight, Proto, etc... All the 'general' brands. I know brands with higher quality may be better but I don't want to run the risk again if I don't have to. My Craftsman Sets (mostly USA but some China) are going strong in 6-pt. The final straw was the 10mm nuts on my fan...

12 point versus 6 point wrenches

My 2 cents are simple, I use 6-pt whenever possible but have 12-pts available as needed. I have had too many bad experiences with 12-pts rounding off bolts/nuts that I had to make the switch. It may be been due to a cheap brand or [censored] hardware, either way I learned my lesson and haven't...

    Pliers Set Recommendation

It all depends on what you need them for but I have found the Crescent ones to be the best overall for what I do. http://www.homedepot.com/p/Crescent-9-in-Pro-Series-Diagonal-Cutting-Pliers-PS5429C/100487601 These will handle cable up to 1/8 and down to 0.020. If I am doing a lot of safety...

Synthetic Oil Leftovers - What OCI ?

After following the forum for years, the general con census is that if you mix within the same line, you are 'okay' but mixing between brands can get you in 'trouble'. This is statement is not something that is set in stone but a general consensus. Personally I mix M1 with M1 and see great...

    Opinions on Homak Top Chest

Homak has some good products, you just need to feel them out and see if it is up to your standards. Over the last year I purchased 3 of their big dawg rollers for my work and they are excellent. It also helped that Kennedy in Ohio produced them, not joe bob or etc... in China. The key to a good...

    Ratcheting wrench lubrication

I second the can of oil comments. It works for Ratchets of all kinds. Just beware, it may drip a few drops after being wiped off but will be a lot smoother then before. If you skip this step and it gets too rough, it may be lost but worth soaking and working a few times to see.
