    Preferred Diesel Additive?

I had a '11 Touareg TDI. VW gave me enough money to sell it back to them at 173,000 miles. I always used an additive, mostly Renewable Lubricants Bio-Power Summer. Occasionally Schaeffer's Diesel Treat 2000 or Amalgamated's TDR-FL. Never had a fuel or fuel system related problem.

    3.0L TDI

I posted some 3.0L TDI UOAs. They are outside the BITOG search limit so you'll need to google "wensteph bitog tdi"

    Sams Club gas

Quote The only additive I recall that claims to meet a specific engine cleanliness requirement is from BMW. Red Line had a single bottle additive they claimed was equivalent in performance. Renewable Lubricants advertises their Bio-Plus to meet the BMW standards. Company wise, they have a...

If idle is to be avoided?

My wife's 2014 Audi Q5 TDI shuts off at lights. 110,000 miles and we've had no issues with the car.

I've ordered two of the pint size bottles to try in the L5P Duramax. I emailed a question about the product and received a phone call from Dr Jane Gates, the Chief Tech Officer. We had a pleasant and informative conversation. I haven't found product threads on the Duramax forums, however there...

M7060 calls for 45 cetane, preferably 50. Can only find 40

This paper from FPPF substantiates BMWTurboDzl's comments on cetane improvement. For example, FPPF's 8+ cetane improver would increase 38 cetane fuel (only an example) to 46. It would not increase 46 cetane fuel to 54. https://www.truckinfo.net/trucking/additives-workpage.htm

Anyone know what the SAE/API ratings are for dexos D, 0W-20?

Only two approved oils, ACDelco and Mobil (same oil as XOM is the supplier for ACDelco) but nothing on websites gives any information.

There is some speculation that a fuel borne catalyst is in Exxon's Synergy diesel.

    2018 Chevy Duramax L5P - 6,000 miles 19,500 miles total

stockrex, I've used TDR-FL with a TDI and working my way through a gallon now in the Duramax. What was your impression of your conversation with them? wwilson, my very limited knowledge makes me think the only mpg increase would come from fewer regens since what this stuff is supposed to do is...

    2018 Chevy Duramax L5P - 6,000 miles 19,500 miles total

Is the second UOA with using FBC the whole time? Fuel borne catalyst seems to be a coming thing. Infineum markets a product that looks to be marketed in the far east. https://www.infineum.com/en/products/fuels-portfolio/fuel-borne-catalysts/ Also several others I've not heard of...

    Replacement for FP+?

I was going by the first line of Schaeffer's data sheet that called for one 12 oz bottle per 15 gallons which I guess is clean up. I see in the last line the treat rate is 1:2000. At that rate I would prefer the Schaeffer because I trust the company and their product testing. Maybe one of the...

    Replacement for FP+?

I've used FPPlus in gas and diesels (yes, it works well in either) for years also. I started it on Terry Dyson's recommendation and the other additive he liked was Renewable Lube's Bio-Plus. I've used it also in gasoline engines. They push cleaning more than UCL in their advertising, but there...

    2019 duramax l5p; Delvac 1300 15w-40 3k mi

I'd run a copy of the reports to the dealer just to put them on notice of a potential problem. I've got no issue with Blackstone, but I'd also pull a second sample and send it somewhere else just to see if they have the same numbers.

    Went and did it!

Sold my 2011 TDI Touareg back to VW. Great car. 173,000 miles. Had to replace a NOx sensor and fuel filter canister when I stripped the bolts. Otherwise just preventative maintenance.
