SL synthetic or SN semi-synthetic, which is best, normal service

Ok, back to topic, SL synthetic verses SN semi-synthetic, SN is later spec, if it's SN, does it really matter if its synthetic. Both are 5w30 A3B4, same brand, so which is better oil, SN spec, or SL synthetic?

    B&S 18HP Intek

As an added note, I also get a cross reference for the head gasket as 796584 from the B&S website, however the 794114 is also still available. It appears that B&S 796584 is the correct one, 794114 is listed from ereplacementparts.com and is also listed for other 31 ci engines.

    B&S 18HP Intek

Do you remember if your last gasket had a fire ring or not. The one I used did not, it came out of a valve cover gasket set, (head gasket, valve cover gasket, exhaust gasket, inlet valve stem seal, carby to manifold gasket) The original part no. for the head gasket is 699168, but has been...

    Help with hard-starting Briggs on a Toro - 6.75HP

As it an older engine and has probably done some work, you may find the valves need the ends ground off them as you probably have no valve clearance anymore. When the valves "ride" combustion gas is blown back down the intake and blows fuel in/out of the carby and makes them very hard to start...
