    Need a New Frig

We have an older GE fridge. Few times a year for the past 4 or 5 years been thinking of replacing it with something new. Have never had an issue with it and it runs great. Nothing fancy, just works. No weird noises. I think we'll keep it until it breaks down. I was thinking also replacing...

    Silver Windshield Sun Shades

I went for a a couple customs (mine & wife's vehicles) and I won't go back to others we tried. Couple days ago I forgot to deploy mine at work. After work I it was so hot and I couldn't handle the steering wheel for a bit until the AC vents cooled it. The seat was squirming hot too. Now back to...

What are you listening to right now?

Right now just after 6am, playing on the HAM radio. Been on a couple hours. Keeping the tone low into the headset mic or CW without side tone. if I wake the wife too early my day is wrecked.

    repairing old stereo equipment

Few years back I used to play with vintage stereo gear. Many generally I would replace some caps, alignment etc and bring back some life to them. A few I had to dive in deeper. Some I just about gave up and about to take it to a repair shop. I did find a few within my area so guess they are out...

What tread depth at change the tires?

When I'm down to 5/32 I'm looking at tires and watching weather. If the weather is dry and no tire deals, I'll try to hold out and keep watching. If the weather is going to be into some good rain, I'm getting tires. If a sale pops up on tires I like, I'm getting tires. But once the wear hits...

    Cheap beater tires

For me my area I'd go DT Arizonian Silver Edition III. Had put them on a vehicle (Camry) we were going to get rid of, but gave that car to a grand daughter afterwards and they did well. They did have cheaper tires (GT Radial Champiro Touring and Otshu) but couldn't pull myself to those as my son...

    Ultra-rare barn find!

Back in mid 70s I had a 1969 Chevelle. The fella I bought it from had dropped a 400 small block and went 4:11 gears. At he same time I had a GTO. The title (Texas) had 64 1/2 on it. The fella I bought the 69 Chevelle from, together we freshened up the 389 the GTO had. I also had a gas drinking...

Good, safe foods to eat after being sick

Ice Cream Sandwich did it for me last time. More than one. Fat Boy brand. If it sets in fine, I'll soon be after a rib eye, or Mountain Mikes Combo Pizza or something like that.

    Rentals for trips

I have never rented a vehicle. Don't know how too. Guess if I ever needed to, might have to ask one of the kids how. We got a couple great running vehicles, and I wouldn't hesitate a long distance drive with any of them. Maybe some day, maybe never.

    Lossless audio music

I understand gear has come a long way, but I just can't get away from my ol systems. I rotate my gear on a fairly routine basis (every few months) and right now what's in is a custom built 2A3 tube amp, JVC QL-A7 TT... oh wait!... not all of my TT cartridges are old. Oh well...

Tire Shop Says All Sensors Bad.

Couple years ago I went to DT to get what I figured my last tire rotation, next visit would be new tires. I told them I was getting the TPMS that would flash for a minute, then go solid for a minute, then would go out. This would happen a couple times a week. I drive a couple hours a work day...

    Kia/Hyundai oil filters

On my 2010 2.4L Hyundai DD, I used OEM filters up to 150k. Then switched to Fram XG9688 which I been running them now for the last 35k. I can't tell much difference on startup. I still have a good size stash of OEMs and XG9688 filters. I originally tried the switch to XG9688 because I ran into a...

End of a Era - Les Schwab tires

There is one a couple miles from me and I pass by on way home from work (go to work a different route). I noticed over time less and less cars there, lately seems empty of business (couple to no vehicles). Now maybe 1/8 mile or less from Les is a Discount Tire being built. At least I'll have a...

    Battery explosion

Had one blow one morning on cranking on what I called my fishing vehicle (K-5 Blazer). Put a new battery in and never another problem with a battery. A weird thing was when I went to remove the blown battery, the seam around all 4 sides near the bottom separated so when I went to lift it out...

    Smoker Time

I'm rarely off holidays. Can't recall when or if last time off for Thanksgiving, but this year I am off (not going to feel right). So grinding at the bit about doing a small (11-lbs) turkey in the Masterbuilt electric smoker and full size prime rib in the Green Mountain grill (use the blue...

    Mail in mailbox notification devices

Didn't know there was such a thing (electronic mail signaling device). Providing we are home, our little doggie barks when hearing certain vehicles and mail delivery is on her bark notification list.

Is this installed right, a Mosfet?

It just doesn't seem to look right, to me. If you could refer to a schematic. Even if it was right (I still think it isn't), I would pull them, do a bit of cleaning and do a better solder job.
