    C7 Corvette

Yes. That was the scene at Corvette club events when I bought my C4 in 1991. They would stand around all day and talk about which wax is the best. When I asked them how well their cars ran at track days, they would look at me like I had antennas sticking out of my head. "Oh no, track days...

    C7 Corvette

I have a coworker that bought a C7 that had been hit in the front end. He had the car delivered on a rollback truck and worked on it in the parking lot for a couple of weeks rebuilding the front suspension and repairing the body damage, which was slight. I was skeptical that he could do a good...

Looking for advice on buying a car long-distance.

I have found a car in Los Angeles, CA that I am interested in buying. Problem is, I'm 2800 miles away in Michigan. It's at a specialty dealer, not a private owner. I am hesitant to agree to a sale over the phone before I inspect and drive the car. How would you out there in BITOG land suggest I...

    Lewis Hamilton to Ferrari?

The FIA. They manipulated the final race to favor Max Verstappen. I will always think that Max's first championship will have an asterisk* next to it because of that.

have you ever bought a car without looking at it first?

Yes. My 1972 GMC 1500. I flew out to Oregon, paid the guy with a bank draft that I took out in his town, and drove it 2200 miles back to Michigan over four days.

New to me 2021 Chevy Traverse

A V8 would be going too far. I wish GM had kept producing the LT-based 4.3L V6. That engine would be a good fit in this vehicle. They could have bored it to ~4.6 liters and pumped the power up to about 350 hp.

    What's wrong with this analysis?

Four different wear and contaminant metals in a fresh oil sample. I think their comments are appropriate. Send the oil analysis report to Quaker State and see if you can get a refund.

    Lewis Hamilton to Ferrari?

Ferrari's last F1 championship was in 2007. I doubt that Hammy can win one there. In recent years, their race strategies and pit calls have repeatedly shown they are most capable of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

    Lewis Hamilton to Ferrari?

Wow. Amazing that Hammy would leave Mercedes. I thought he was going to retire from there. He has nothing left to prove in the sport, and I don't think he's been the same since he was robbed of his 8th championship. 2025 is going to be a null year due to it being the last of the current...

    2016 Dodge Charger 3.6L 71,200 total miles 16,200 miles and 36 months on HPL 5w-30 HDEO CJ-4

You're running an Iron wear rate of 3ppm per 1000 miles, which is OK. The change in viscosity from the previous reading is weird. Which is closer to the expected viscosity?

    Another Delete Shop Gets Nailed

The EPA has multiple Tiers of emissions regulations on locomotives. They're up to Tier 4, but the railroads aren't buying them because of high operating costs and low reliability. Currently GE is not building any new locomotives, so one could say that excessively stringent emissions regulations...

    Best Italian food in Indianapolis?

They have a Carrabba's in the metro area. It's a chain restaurant, but I like Carrabba's. The most famous Indianapolis restaurant I know of is St Elmo's in the downtown area, close to Monument Circle. But it's a steakhouse, not Italian. If you want to take in Indy 500 memorabilia, The Union...

    1999 Camaro - Couldn't resist.

The steering seems slow compared to my Z28. I wonder if the Z had a faster ratio. I still have the original springs and shocks from my Z28 that I took off when I went to the Eibach springs and Koni shocks. The car came with Cooper tires on factory SS 10-spoke wheels, and I have two other sets of...

NTSB urges Mandate to Limit the Speed of new Vehicles to the Posted Speed limit.

It's just control for the sake of control. Somehow the human race managed to survive without artificial speed limiters in cars.

    1999 Camaro - Couldn't resist.

I did a nationwide search on Autotrader.com for 4th-Gen V6/5-speed Camaros and Firebirds to see if there were better deals out there. Nine Camaros showed up, no Firebirds. There was one with about the same amount of miles at about the same price, and others that were low miles for double the money.
