Yup. These were the intervals when i was driving about 5 miles in the morning, to the train station. Literally hit every red light. Stop and go...and try to get there asap, so as not to miss the train.... engine barely warmed up. Afternoon i drove maybe 11 miles, street stop and go to pick up...

Im doing a little more highway nowadays. I head to work at 420am, little traffic at that hour, and can stick to 55/60 mph for about 20 miles each way. The other 8 miles are streets. Older UOA traffic was heavier at 7am in LA.

My latest UOA. Oil used up to about 135,000 was Valvoline white bottle. From 135 to 150,000, I slowly transitioned to Valvoline high mileage 5w-30.. From 150 to about 165k, it was Valvoline high mileage. Around 165,000 i transitioned to Costcos oil.

Did you ever have UOA and saw high Iron levels?

This is for my 2010 Traverse. Oil sample taken at 152,653. Ive included all of my UOA. My interest in the UOA- is to monitor for elevated iron levels-- pointing to timing chain wear. As can be seen the engine now uses more oil. I check the oil levels weekly and make sure its stays up. Seems that...

Quick search. @ 39,451 my water pump began to leak and was changed. There was no overheat. As I saw coolant on floor- and drove it to dealer the next morning. No overheat condition. Around 38,000-did a trip up/down the local mountains where I had 8 on board- and used engine braking to slow...

The iron being lower on the long trips-- shouldnt that be expected? Its 3200 miles of essentially non stop cruising on the highway. Gas up and drive until the gas is low again. Stop refuel. and keep going- repeat. I would think the cold engine starts is where there is more wear... 3200 miles...

yeah, hard to tell. Could it be -the carbon cleaning, -the higher mileage, -the change in driving pattern -sticking rings or a combination of all. I think adding the Maxlife as make up oil----little by little vs making a sudden change is better. Maxlife- on the website says "Extra detergents...

already did the mod where you drill the holes bigger on the PCV. 4 oil changes later and no oil has been found in the breather tube. Pre drilling, there was always oil in the tube- not much- but there was.
