Pennzoil Ultra 5W-30. bought it for my 2010 Enclave. Ultra was the only oil I used in that vehicle. Ran that vehicle 135,000 miles. Not a single issue.
With my previous vehicle, 2006 Impala, my shop turned the rotors a couple of times. Seemed to work. did not get the immediate "chatter" that the old Ford Taurus' seemed to want to do.
I've ran Ultra beyond 8K miles and it didn't shear out of grade. It was toward the bottom, but not out of grade. My engine is the GM3.6 DI which is known to shear oil.

I live in the Chicago area. Winter is a real thing here. I bought a new Buick Enclave with a 3.6L DI engine in April. I have been running Pennzoil Ultra 5W-30 with stellar results.
People on this forum seem to agree that Winter weather is harder on oil. During the Summer months,I arrived at the...
Those are the prices here in the Chicago area also.

That's an excellent report. The viscosity got beat up, but I wouldn't worry about it. The wear is incredibly low and the TBN is strong. I would also run it 10K miles without concern. Thank you for sharing this information.
To date, I've still been able to find 5qt jugs of PU at WalMart here in the Chicago area. I probably have enough to get me through the first quarter 2011. I've been seeing TV ads for Pennzoil Ultra lately. I gotta believe that their distribution will improve with their promotion of the product.
I like that fact that the Taurus sits up a little higher and has a good amount of headroom. I can't speak for the other cars you mentioned. Those things may not be issues for your wife.
