What was the first synthetic oil you ever bought?

Pennzoil Ultra 5W-30. bought it for my 2010 Enclave. Ultra was the only oil I used in that vehicle. Ran that vehicle 135,000 miles. Not a single issue.

I've been running NAPA synthetic in my wife's 2007 Accord. Its a low mileage vehicle. Have done no UOA's. Car seems to run fine.

    Who still gets rotors cut?

With my previous vehicle, 2006 Impala, my shop turned the rotors a couple of times. Seemed to work. did not get the immediate "chatter" that the old Ford Taurus' seemed to want to do.

3 Pennzoil Ultra's out of Grade No Fuel Dilution ?

I've ran Ultra beyond 8K miles and it didn't shear out of grade. It was toward the bottom, but not out of grade. My engine is the GM3.6 DI which is known to shear oil.

    Winter season OCI.

I live in the Chicago area. Winter is a real thing here. I bought a new Buick Enclave with a 3.6L DI engine in April. I have been running Pennzoil Ultra 5W-30 with stellar results. People on this forum seem to agree that Winter weather is harder on oil. During the Summer months,I arrived at the...

Thank you for sharing. I'm very interested in PP. That's an excellent report. PP appears to be a good match for your application.

    Pennzoil Ultra 5w20 - 7,000 miles - 2008 Scion xB

That's an excellent report. The viscosity got beat up, but I wouldn't worry about it. The wear is incredibly low and the TBN is strong. I would also run it 10K miles without concern. Thank you for sharing this information.

    Changed to Pennzoil Ultra today

Peninzoil Ultra has served me very well. How it performs against your previous oil, I cannot predict.

PP up to $23.50 while PU gone..

To date, I've still been able to find 5qt jugs of PU at WalMart here in the Chicago area. I probably have enough to get me through the first quarter 2011. I've been seeing TV ads for Pennzoil Ultra lately. I gotta believe that their distribution will improve with their promotion of the product.

    Boron not depleted with use

OK. You guys win. The boron isn't "depleted". but there certainly is less of it in the oil.

    Sedan quandry

I like that fact that the Taurus sits up a little higher and has a good amount of headroom. I can't speak for the other cars you mentioned. Those things may not be issues for your wife.

First New Car Oil Change At 1,000 Miles ?

I prefer to do the 1,000 initial oil change. The purpose is to get rid of potential manufacuring debris, machining chips, sand, etc.

Brand loyal. My Enclave listed for ~$43K. More than I paid for my first house. I want to run it 6 years, which is about 240K miles. I'm not concerned about saving $10 on an oil change. I've been running Pennzoil Ultra. Buy it at WalMart.
