What Factors Are Swaying EV Adoption in the U.S.?

Not the first nor the last expensive vehicle to have something catastrophic occur.

What Factors Are Swaying EV Adoption in the U.S.?

Sure but I imagine like BMW and Mercedes running through car washes is a no-no and you must be diligent with removing grease, saps etc

What Factors Are Swaying EV Adoption in the U.S.?

The sources are in my post. 30% is still significant and you'd be remiss to suggest that only light duty cars and trucks within the sector are being targeted for emissions reductions. In addition you cannot deny that the aim has been to reduce emissions in totality. Everyone is hard...

What Factors Are Swaying EV Adoption in the U.S.?

Come on now. You know you're being selective in what you think is important. The issue is total GHG emissions and population size is irrelevant. The US emits almost 2x the co2 per capita compared to China and is No 2 in total emissions (Behind China). (Per Capita) (Per Country) I bet the US...

What Factors Are Swaying EV Adoption in the U.S.?

Appears an owner had a temporary issue after going through the car wash.

No different than any other car in some degree. Have you seen the care requirements for matte paint colors put out by Mercedes, BMW, etc?

What Factors Are Swaying EV Adoption in the U.S.?

Funny but you do know that no automaker covers damage from car washes. Car Wash mode isn't anything special either. "If taking Cybertruck to an automatic car wash is necessary, Car Wash Mode closes all windows, locks the charge port, and disables windshield wipers, Sentry Mode, and...

What Factors Are Swaying EV Adoption in the U.S.?

The near term reason has always been aimed at reducing GHG emissions in order to contribute to an overall reduction in GHG emissions and thereby avoid the tipping point of 1.5C in global heating.

BYD may come to the US via Mexico

Interesting economic news out of Mexico. https://www.wsj.com/articles/the-biden-trump-trade-war-with-mexico-electric-vehicles-usmca-9a093d77?mod=hp_opin_pos_4#cxrecs_s (Paywall) "Is Mexico responding to U.S. pressure—or maybe to threats from Donald Trump—against Chinese electric-vehicle...

Plumbing house repipe, copper or PEX?

The only issue I've read regarding PEX has to do with plumbers who choose not to use the connectors suggested by the PEX manufacturer. https://www.pexuniverse.com/types-of-pex-tubing I would also research class action lawsuit. Uponor was hit with a lawsuit in a bunch of states.

That's not true. For example Mercedes Benz requires the use of specific wording for an oil which they've formerly approved. The rules are set by the automaker not by the country in which the product is sold.

VW workers in Tennessee vote to join UAW in historic win for Detroit union

Relative to cost of living in the area these workers are getting a good deal. Union leaders in the US negotiate in bad faith because the know the US Gov (i.e. taxpayer) will backstop failing pensions. After all there's a reason why union membership has remained strong in govt jobs. The...

No. They claim it meets the performance requirements. Trust. It's the same trust that you rely upon with the majors who put "Mercedes Benz 229.72" on the bottle. They're not supposed to but there's no third-party verification. You're just trusting that their information is accurate. That's...

I said they not publishing anything less than what the majors are publishing. Wear is measured over time so ya. It's about acceptable wear over an extend oil interval. You'll never know how much better like you'll never know how much better Mobil 1 FS is over Liqui Moly Top Tech even though...

    New Amsoil European Viscosities

No 1: They not publishing anything less than what the majors are publishing. No 2: This is difficult to quantify because so many consumers are "early changers" and performance is measured over time. For example you could run a conventional non-synthetic 10w40 in a euro car and change it every...

    New Amsoil European Viscosities

That's not how it works. No 1: They buy the additive package, don't stray from the blending requirements , and then they can claim the oil has the approval. No tests on their part required. The base additive package is designed to meet the requirements at X cost. The boutique brands buy the...

No company which sells motor oil provides engine test information. Ultimately you're relying on marketing, the label, and word of mouth regardless of whether you buy from a major or boutique brand. I used to be an "approvals" only kind of consumer until I understood exactly what was going on.

Like what sort of proof? You want a claim that it performs X-times better on a bench test or something?

    New Amsoil European Viscosities

Blenders, if they want to retain the approval, have very little room to mess with the additive pack which they buy from one of the additive suppliers. This means that companies which "top treat", "enhance" etc. can't claim their product has an approval.
