Subaru Drainback Fix - Cheap & Easy*

The ADVB is not “nitrile.” Best we can tell it’s a FKM (Viton) series of material. I’d prefer silicone or not owning a Subaru.

    Oil Filter Manufacturing Video

The videos of the Pakistani foundries are almost hard to watch. Lots of molten metal splatter around bare feet.

Subaru Drainback Fix - Cheap & Easy*

The following is a cheap & easy(ish) solution for the annoying filter drain back found with some FB20 FA20 engines (top mnt filter). And that is to “simply“ use a filter with both an anti-siphon valve and anti-drainback valve. Although depending on where you live, finding one of these filters...

That’s my thought too. Fuel system controls were out of whack.

    Carbon Locked Pentastar Teardown

Interesting engine. Crankcase, timing train and under valve covers looks superb with no sludge, varnish or apparent wear. But those Combustion chambers! Oil control rings look frozen. Split personality Mopar motor

Anybody make a socket wrench with these specs?

Handle profile is same diameter as my 80’s Craftsman and 90’s Proto. I use a breaker bar If I need excessive leverage.

    Rotella T6 turned into jelly

I’ve seen similar oil jelling to this in Small displacement off road Diesel engines. Scenario was engine “stuck” in and out of active DPF regen for weeks. Led to a very high rate of fuel dilution. This was combined with low ambient temps and an operating profile where engine frequently did not...

    c&p Fram TG3950 Low Miles

TG3950 off 1988 Mitsubishi 2.6L. Run for about 2k miles / 6 months. 99k on motor at install. 5w30 Chevron Supreme. Changed as had cam chain rattle from drain back after sitting overnight. Replaced the Fram with a Pure One and rattle started sooner than this Fram. Purchased from RA “warehouse...

Mobil 1 oil filter for Kabota ox 057-5 excavator

Using genuine Kubota parts is always less costly than hiring an attorney to argue why a will-fit oil filter did not contribute to a Lubrication related failure. Is this machine located in Europe? What model year is it?

Mobil 1 oil filter for Kabota ox 057-5 excavator

I recommend Kubota OEM Filter only on that 2.6 engine if it’s under warranty. Not sure what it’s installed in, but likely a piece of commercial equipment not covered under Manguson-Moss. Non-Kubota filter could cause warranty denial. And be sure you look closely at the OCI mandated by Kubota...

Pur One PL14459 Cut Open Quality Issue?

As I stated, when the filter is “reassembled”, the spring applies no pressure to the assembly. Can almost spin the ADV when clamped back up. Some part(S) of the assembly are either out of tolerance or the wrong components were used.

No rattle noticed, but zero tension on spring when assembled.

    ACDelco PF1127 Cut Open New

For popular Honda and other import applications. Looks well made. I thought Delcos nowadays mostly had fiber end caps (Fram type construction). Sourced from Amazon. Made in USA.

Pur One PL14459 Cut Open Quality Issue?

This one had an excessive drain back issue. I’ll explain below. Off A 1989 Mitsubishi 2.6L 101k miles. Filter only on a few weeks. Running 5w-30 Valvoline LLiii. Date code hard to read - could be F09N17B1. Sourced from RA. This replaced a TG3950. After installing this filter I noticed engine...
