    M1 TDT 5w40_5,235_miles_SAAB_9-5 - DISCREPANCY

Okay call me crazy, but my initial report showed Zinc and Phos at identical levels. The lab generously agreed to redo the test, but the differences in some of the results concern me a bit. Take a look - amended numbers for the most recent test are in [brackets]: Code: Oil New M1 TDT...

    Mobil 1 TDT 5W/40 - 5,666 Mi, SAAB 9-5 2.3L lpt

Made the change to Mobil 1 TDT about 20k (4 changes) ago. When using GC 0w/30 bearing wear was a bit higher than I'd like - not critical, but not great either. The 2.3L SAAB really does need a 40wt oil. With the SAAB being a sludge prone engine and very hard on oil, the M1 TDT seemed to be a...

High iron levels with Gold GC

My recent UOAs on my SAAB 9-5 2.3L LPT have shown elevated iron levels. I've also noticed high iron levels on UOAs for engines as diverse as a Mini Cooper S (1.6L supercharged), and a Camaro LS1. Thoughts?

    German Castrol, 0w/30, 4998/4845 Mi, SAAB 9-5 2.3L

Any big giant red flags with these reports? The iron and lead obviously concern me. Could they be the result of weak oil pressure? The "idiot" light has NEVER come on - flickering or otherwise (the light does work). This engine is known for sludging due to a poor PCV valve design, but all of the...

    GC Gold 0w30 - 4,998 mi - 2001 SAAB 9-5 2.3L LPT

First UOA on this vehicle, since I purchased it with 39,000 miles on the vehicle. The prior owner took excellent care of this car, and had all receipts to back it up. Oil was changed every 5,000 miles using SAAB Turbo Oil from the dealer (5w30 semi-synthetic blend). Because the 2.3L LPT of this...

    Castrol Syntec 0w-30 GOLD GC - 7,667 miles on oil - 1997 VW - VR6 (12v)

Latest analsys of Gold GC on my high mileage VR6 (boxed column). Lead seems to be well under control on my 3rd fill of Gold GC (no anlaysis done on the first fill), even considering the additional miles on the oil compared to the last sample. I'm not that worried about the viscosity shift as a...

    Lubromoly Voll Synthese 5/40, 7414 miles - 1997 VW Passat VR6

I've been lurking on these boards for a while now, and have finally had a UOA performed on my 1997 Passat GLX - 2.8L 12v VR6 This is my first UOA, and the first time this vehicle has seen an oil change interval greater than 5,000 miles since I purchased it. It was purchased with 91,000 miles...
