It'll be available with the 2.5L 5cyl initially. A TDI engine will probably be introduced in 08 or 09. The 2-door and 4-door GTI (same car, stiffer suspension) is available with the 2.0T engine.

The dealer used the WRONG oil. For your PD-TDI engine you should only use a 505.01 rated oil. The only 505.01 rated Castrol oil available in North America is Castrol TXT 5W-40. Personally I use Redline MTL in my 5-speed gearbox and it works pretty well. If I had an automatic, I'd use Redline...

Drew is correct, the 507 spec supercedes the 505.01 spec and can be used in PD-TDI engines. Since our PD-TDIs don't have the oil life monitor, it's good not to push the intervals too far past 10K.

windnsea00, there is no conclusive evidence that one particular oil is better than the rest, so use whatever is easier to get and/or cheaper. Neil Womack, Schaeffer's is 505.01 rated, but not certified by VW. I don't think VWoA would honor the engine warranty if that oil was used.

Dominik, I got it from a distributor in Markham, but they are not distributing or importing this oil any more unfortunately. I'll get their info once I get home and you can call them to see if they have any oil left. Does this place in Mississauga have Agip 505.01 oil?
