    Squished Stihl MS 181

What a coincidence, just did the same thing to my trusty old Echo. My gravel driveway was a little rough with washout after a storm that rolled through and in the process of hauling my chainsaw to clean up some old fencing, and a shovel and a rake to smooth out the driveway, over the clatter of...

Mazda MX-5 ND series (gen 4)

Dave I dont have an ND but I do have a 2019 Fiat 124 Spider (which as you probably know, or maybe not, is built on the ND assembly line and is basically an ND with a Fiat engine and some different bodywork) and other than some minor trim door trim and dash pieces is almost the exact same...

    Driveway sealing?

My neighbor fell for this. Said he got a great deal because they had too much leftover from a job down the street and paid less than he would have if he had done it himself. Four days later it was still soaking wet glistening in the sun. It was obvious what the "sealant" actually was. I always...

    "Best" Car Auction "Theft"

I've sold over 8000 cars at dealer-only auctions in 20+ states, mostly remotely but some I attended in person. Sabotage was frequent. As soon as a car came in a I got a condition report within 48 hours. When it came time to run it through on sale day, if it didn't run the way the condition...

    Skyactiv 2.5L - Oil Capacity

In the 2.5 in our 2017 I usually just fill the (Mazda dealer) filter from whatever leftover partial bottles I have laying around, then open and add the full 5 qt jug into the engine. Puts it right at or above the max mark.

    Move car w/ NO coolant?

The bearing isn't lubricated by the coolant, but the seal absolutely is. I wouldn't start it without coolant on a triple dog dare. Roll it off the ramps, and push it in. Just my opinion.

    Subaru BRZ....2012

Good choice, looks like a nice one. There are very few cars out there right now that appeal to me and this has always been one of them. My nephew had one for a short time (he was T-boned shortly after he got it) and I only got to drive it once but I instantly liked it.

Can I use Toyota Pink in a old Toyota

I remember reading lots of anecdotal reports on the various forums about pink causing water pump drips/leaks in older Toyotas, and some dealer mechanics even recommending newer Toyotas with pink to be switched back to the older red version as a preventative. Whether or not any of this is true, I...

    2016 Toyota Sequoia 75W-90 vs 75w-85

^^^ Same here. M1 75w-90 in all three and never look back.... 157,000 miles and counting and never paid much attention to the Toyota's meandering viscosity requirements.

We Lost 3 Republic Lines This Week

I'm an A&P working for a certain engine manufacturer who just announced it will be laying off 10% of it's aviation workforce. The money is decent and I like most of the people here but I can tell you if the axe falls on myself or any of the people I directly work with, more than half will not be...

    Historical Gasoline Prices

^^ You've got that right. I enjoy filling my car up for $18, but I also know it is a bad sign and not a good thing. Shell gas station right at the exit here on I-75 is $2.49/gallon. Right down the street, barely two blocks away, is $1.74 at the Circle-K, and just about every other station as...

You ever eat any moldy food after removing the mold?

I used to work in a members only wholesale club back in the early 90's (they were worldwide at the time but I think they are mostly defunct now) and occasionally I got stuck working the cold storage food area. The guys in the dairy department would routinely bring in these shrink wrapped blocks...

Mazda MV the same as Mercon V?

Mazda MV and Mercon V are NOT the same spec. Idemitsu Type M is the real deal and is readily available and relatively cheap on ebay. I've had several cases of it shipped and its never been a problem (I have multiple pre-Skyactiv Mazdas that use this fluid). You can also use Ford FNR5 fluid...

Regular gas in the Mazda 3

In our 2017 with the 2.5, in very hot weather, in city driving the engine is certainly way smoother with 93 as compared to 87. In cooler weather I cant really say I notice any major difference at all between regular and premium so 99.9% of the time I fill up, its getting 87. Most of my driving...
