ok, I'll bite, how about a Wix or OEM filter? They are both local in my area. I used to use Wix but stopped because they sold the company and I had ?'s about quality. For what its worth I liked the wix but the oem is WAY overpriced. By the way I use Castrol GTX 5w30 at 5k oci.

I know everyone here hates fram but can you give me a reason why? Everyone knows someone or has heard of someone with problems but no one has had a prob themself. I've used them on everything from cars and trucks to motorcycles to john deere tractors with no problems.

I've had a fram ph3614 sitting in my shed out of the wheather for about 6-8 months. My question is can I use this filter on my truck or has the media soaked up moisture from the air? I'm a nut like everyone else here about my cars so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

1 quart in 4,000 miles is normal or better then normal for an automotive engine. Your dino top off should not hurt anything. The only difference the dino makes is a little more change in your pocket.

I dont touch the gas on start up. I usually let the car idle 15-20 seconds before moving. I sent an e-mail to Pat goss, a local auto expert who runs a shop that mostly sees fords. Maybe he'll know of a TSB on the car or maybe he'll say its normal.

I couldn't wait! I changed it today with 2,519 miles on factory oil. I replaced it with a Toyota filter and 5.5 qts. of Mobil1 5w30. I plan on doing the next service at 7,500 but we'll see what happens.

putting your car into closed loop before its time to does not always prove better. If the car is warned up before the thermostat opens it will lean out the fuel mix properly. Opening the thermostat too earley will still leave the computer dumping fuel looking for the correct ratio.

I'm new also and I've spend a lot of time reading uoa's trying to figure them out. I have learned a lot but I can't think of anything bad going on in the engine that wouldn't show up on a uoa.
