What cars did your parents schlep you around in as a kid?

Earliest car I remember my mom having was an X1/9. My grandad had a ranchero and my grandmother had a ‘69 Midnight purple T-bird then a ‘76 Cougar followed by a sting of Tauruses (Taurai). There was a bit when my family had a an alarming number of Pinos.

What size Jack Stands do you use?

Those Safe Jack ones look like they work similar to the JackPoint ones I saw on Leno's garage a while back. I use Esco 3 ton stands.

How did you really feel about your first car?

Red on red ‘66 Mustang. Straight six, 3 speed stick, and factory air. Looked cool but slow as molasses. Bought when I was fifteen and restored to be ready when I was 16. Couldn't drive a clutch after knee surgery as a senior so I got an 88 Mercury Tracer from budget rentals retired fleet. Lost...

Please school me 1st Gen mini Cooper NA

Just because things were listed as possible doesn't mean that they are likely or will be found on every car. When I bought my current '08 R52 with 68k miles all I've had to do is change the oil. Not problem one.

Unlike the later Prince engines, the tritec (especially in justa form) are rock solid. I've seen them go well over 300,000 mikes but don't recall seeing any go to 4000,000 yet. Look for a 2004 or later as the early transmissions were a week spot - the midlands 5 speed and CVT. Look for rust on...

Fighting fuel dilution: Honda 1.5L Turbo

Seriously thinking about doing one (UOA) when I get a few miles in her. So how would higher octane fuel effect this situation? I’m not seeing that it would be a positive.

Fighting fuel dilution: Honda 1.5L Turbo

Parshisha you’re info and one or two others are what I was thinking of. Almost bought the Corolla instead due to this but the fact that the UOAs don’t show wear metals gave me enough confidence to get the Honda. The Touring doesn’t come with a manual that I’ve seen unfortunately so CVT for me...

Fighting fuel dilution: Honda 1.5L Turbo

Picked up yesterday so not much time to do anything with it. I don’t know that it has or will have fuel dilution, however it has been a problem with some of these. What I’m asking if there are steps I can take to minimize the risk - fuel brands, oil choice, etc. I believe from my reading that...

Fighting fuel dilution: Honda 1.5L Turbo

Now that I’ve decided on and bought a 2017 Honda Civic Touring with the 1.5L turbo, what things can we do to fight the duel dilution issue with this motor?

    2017 Civic vs Corolla

Civic facelift was last year iirc. The Honda Sensing suite was a major reason for looking at getting. Just pulled the trigger on a 2017 Agean Blue Touring.

Understand about the premium but the difference is the ethanol free only comes in regular.

    Top tier or ethanol free

I was always taught to use good gas. When I first got my MINI I learned about top tier cert and started using it. Around here Phillips 66 is the only top tier option and is close. My wife’s 14 Lincoln Navigator only needs regular. There is a locally owned station (with a very good rep) that...
