    Power Steering filter

Thought I'd post some pics of the power steering filter I just installed today. Filter base is from discounthydraulichose.com; 1/2" NPT ports with 15 psi bypass. First experience with the pushlock hose & fittings...seems like good stuff. Probably overkill, but the fluid coming out...

Redline C+ UOA from manual tranny...comments?

I hear ya about the 2-3 shift. Even double clutching gets difficult sometimes. While I'm letting it warm up, I'll drop the tranny in 5th and the t-case in neutral...seems to help the shifting quite a bit. Not liking that you're already babying it a bit...I need 250,000 miles out of mine...

Redline C+ UOA from manual tranny...comments?

Dang, too bad the thing takes exactly 6 qts and I don't have any left over... Any thoughts on shifting performance? 2-3 and 3-4 shifts get noticeably more difficult at 25000 miles. Fluke, or is the oil degrading? The spec'd fluid is ATF...any other alternatives to consider?

Redline C+ UOA from manual tranny...comments?

Take 2: UOA Isn't there a way to attach this to the post?

Redline C+ UOA from manual tranny...comments?

Looking for some input on my 2nd transmission sample. First sample was Amsoil universal ATF, second sample is of redline C+ ATF. This is from my 2007 Dodge with 6 speed manual. link This is my 3rd fluid change...I've notice degraded shifting performance at 20-25k miles on each fill. Not...

    bypass pressure

Kinda what I figured on the pressure...I suppose a 15 psi would be better than say a 50 psi... On your diagram, the BP90 is a bypass filter with a restriction, and the northern filter is just an in-line with a bypass valve (is it considered a 'bypass filter'?) I'm definitely going with bigger...

    bypass pressure

So, in the case of your average garden variety engine oil bypass, you really just need a restriction to limit the flow through the filter before it goes back to the pan. Too much through the bypass = reduction in engine oil pressure...(sure wish they would put real pressure gauges in these newer...

    bypass pressure

Need a little bypass theory lesson...what's the difference between using a restriction orifice and a bypass valve at a certain pressure? I'm not real clear what bypass pressure value represents?

Particle Counts: Magnefine on Power Steering

Yep, good info. Maybe picked up some dirt while sampling? All the smaller sizes dropped pretty consistently. Gary's comment seems legit, but it seems like the filter would catch all the big stuff, even though it keeps making debris...

    PS filter

bingo...I hate the thought of wear metals from the steering box taking out the hydroboost as well. Best place for a filter would be on the return line to the sump?? Haven't had a chance to take a close looks at line placement to determine mounting options. Have a couple quarts of Amsoil on...

    PS filter

Filter/bypass filter on power steering system...necessary? I've got buildup on the dipstick...haven't done any uoa, but looks like very fine wear metals. Pump & steering gear need all the help they can get. Thinking of a spin on...any filter recommendations?
