    GM 3.6 intake valve clean

I'm changing the spark plugs on my 2011 Enclave, which requires removing the upper intake manifold. While in there you can see the intake valves, which are quite dirty. Any recommendations for cleaning them?

Energy Conserving oil for Saab 9-3.

I recently purchased a 2003 9-3 (2.0T) with 170k miles. It has been well maintained and looks like it got M1 0w40 for most of it's life. I'm comfortable using M1 0w40 which is one of the few available oils that meets gm-ll-a-025, but it's not labeled as energy conserving. I'd like to maximize my...

Anyone used G-oil two stroke yet?

I picked up my "free" 5 gallon of G-oil and Wal-mart and decided to try their two stroke oil too. Anyone tried this yet? I have a two stroke snow blower and a trimmer that I would like to run this in. I'm hoping it smokes less, but I also have trouble with carbon build up in the exhaust of my JD...

    High mileage oils.

Haven't been on in a while, so I thought I'd get an update on the current consensus, or lack thereof on oils. I sold my Electra(300,000 miles on engine and transmission) last year for a 98 Buick Regal. It currently has around 230,000 miles and for some reason now I think about high mileage oils...

Suggest an oil for an old Buick.

Haven't been keeping up here much any more, so I thought I'd throw a line out and see what people think. My 89 Park avenue has 237,000 miles on it which means that the engine and tranny are just about to turn 300k.(swapped from my totaled 278k lesabre ) It's a 3800 V6 of course. Here's a couple...

    Improving 9004 bulbs.

My Park Avenue is stuck with the odd (for GM) 9004 bulb style. While the beam is a little better then my Lesabre's(9006 but smaller reflectors) they are a very weak light. Fine when your all alone, but another car comes by and I can barely tell they are on. I'm wondering if there is a way of...

"New" Purolator tranny filter, not impressed.

Just bought a new filter for my wife's car, 99 Park Ave. I compared it to the last 4t60/65 filter I replaced. Purolator/Bosch must be farming them out now. The new one was made in China instead of the US. The stampings were different, not sure about the rest. I'll try and cut one apart next time...

    Getting the most for insurance.

My 88 Lesabre T-ype was totalled a couple weeks ago and I'm still trying to get a fair price form my insurance company. The car was in perfect running condition, with new brakes, tires, ect. The car did have minor rust and a lot of miles. My problem with the claim is the insurance company take...

    My totalled car

Yep, my goal of reaching 300,000 miles was cut short today. At 278,000 I was side-swiped on my way to work. I'm OK, but the car is totaled. I was driving down the divided highway(65mph) when someone in a Honda Passport(Isuzu Rodeo) pulled out right in front of me. I managed to swerve around him...

    The "new" Dexron III ATF

Since GM has stopped licensing DEXRON III ATF, oil companies are left with a problem. DEXRON VI requires expensive base stocks and has to be priced much higher then DEXRON III. Yesterday I was at Checker when I saw Valvoline DEXRON IV "Synthetic" for $5.99 a quart. Then I noticed the Chevron ATF...

Bought a Honda ATV, what oil?

I know this has been covered a bit, but there's not a lot of posts in this forum, so it should hurt bringing it up again. Right? Anyway, I just purchased a 1987 Honda TRX250X(very similar to a 300EX). The thing runs great, more power then I was expecting even. I'd like to change the oil, but...

    Toshiba HIR headlight pics.

Here are some pictures of my Toshiba HIR 9012 bulbs. For more info see This post. I bought mine from John Deere for $9.99, they took a while to get in though. Here is one HIR bulb on the left and a GE nighthawk(a good bulb also) on the right in my wife's 98 Lesabre. They have a deflector...

Where to find correct lug nuts?

I'm having a hard time finding the correct lug nuts for my lesabre. The ones you can buy from the auto parts store are way off. They either have a dome end, reducing the amount of threads, or are too wide to fit in my center caps. The factory ones most closely resemble these. but I'm not too...

    New screen door, doesn't work.

We bought a new Andersen storm/screen door last week, and the thing just doesn't close right. I adjusted it ten different ways and searched the internet for ideas but found nothing. No matter what the adjustment, the door slams shut until the last 6" and then the shock kicks in. Closing the...

    Cookware and pans

Alright guys, what is your opinion on the best cookware out there to get. My wife really wants some new cookware, not that ours is bad, but it's a cobbled mess of different type stuff. She specifically wants a new sauce pan. We do have a stainless one, but it looks like ****. We have a...

    DIY automotive painting.

I've been trying to get the stuff to start doing some body work at home. I realize I'll probably never have show quality paint, but I have two older vehicles in need of rust repair(yes I know) that would obviously cost more then they are worth. My daily driver has faded cracked paint with rattle...

    engine/all purpose cleaner

I'm looking for a good degreaser/all around cleaner to use straight and diluted. I have simple green and like it, but I don't like the alunium corrosion thing. I want something I can use on my engine and wheels that works. Anyone have any recomendations?

K&N -- Best Filtration Possible? See Evidence.

Good UOA, but I'm not sure if it proves anything. Without a comparible test with another filter what does it mean? For what it's worth Grease's test showed that there were a few filters that actually outflowed the K&N, including a $3 Purolator.

car hit in lot, insurance question.

My wife left work sick today only to find her car had been hit in the parking lot. A big scrape across the fender, peeling the paint off right about SUV bumper level. The spot was temp. parking for employees from other buildings. The nerve of some people makes me furious. So I guess now it has...

    Oil for Honda 3 wheeler.

I'm going to pull out the old Honda this weekend and give it a going over. It's an 83 or 84 ATC200S I believe, the basic 200cc model, not the X or big red. I'm going to change the oil a couple times to get it flushed out. I've got some Delo 15w40 (non-moly) that I was thinking of using, but I...
