High Mileage Honda switch to Mobil 1

Hi All! I have a 1994 Honda Accord non-vtec that I would like to switch over to Mobil 1. I have owned the car since new and it has always had regular oil changes on conventional motor oil. The car now has 212,000 miles on it and I have replaced most of the engine oil seals with the exception of...

2003 Infiniti FX35, Chevron Supreme 10W-30, 3328 Miles on Oil

ekpolk – The stock FX35 Oil Filter is the same as the “tiny sized” one that the G35 uses, part number 15208 65F00. I choose not to run that particular filter in my vehicle after the second oil change. Instead I use a larger OEM Nissan filter, part number 15208 9E000. I believe that this filter...

2003 Infiniti FX35, Mobil Drive Clean 10W-30, 3659 Miles on Oil

Al – Blackstone attributed the high Copper to the “(w)ear-in of bronze parts, which have tooling marks on them when new.” They did not comment as to the possible cause of the high Silicon. I hope to see lower amounts of these metals in future oil samples. Unfortunately, I did use the Mobil...

2003 Infiniti FX35, Mobil Drive Clean 10W-30, 3659 Miles on Oil

Bror Jace – The car was driven gently for the first 1200 miles and “normally” ever since then. I would say that about 80% of the miles are from highway usage. Could that account for the lower than expected metal wear? Thank you for your response. - KC

2003 Infiniti FX35, Mobil Drive Clean 10W-30, 3659 Miles on Oil

Drew99GT – Thanks for the comments. Smitty - I used to own a Saturn that loved to consume oil regardless of brand. However, I noted consumption to be markedly higher when using Castrol GTX. I have avoided using Castrol products ever since. - KC

vvk – Thanks for your comments. What do you think about Chevron Supreme non-synthetic 10W-30 or 10W-40? I have read good things about this oil on this forum and was thinking of switching to this brand on the next oil change. I have also considered switching to Mobil One Synthetic 10W-30 but I...
