    Syn in 4cyl problem?

I was out with a group of friends last evening and eventually the male portion of the group began talking cars. Anyway, one guy claims he read in "one of the consumer magazines" "some time back" that synthetic oil shouldn't be used in 4 cylinder vehicles. (Hey, don't flame the messenger, I'm...

Thinking of Buying '04 Honda Odyssey

I have a '09 Honda CRV and, although "bullet-proof" in many ways, it is not the quietest vehicle on the road. That being said ... if you decide against buying that '04 Odyssey ... please give me the seller's phone number. In fact, if I were you, I wouldn't go near that deal with a 10 foot pole...

Is there a straight answer: Best and Worst oil?

Well of course there is straight answer. The best oil is ... ummm ... oh heck, what's the name of that oil comes in the 1 quart plastic container? You know ... the one that says 'oil' right on the container ... with the twist-off cap? Yup, that's right ... that's the one.

    Reading dipstick woes

Any tricks to reading dipsticks? My older eyes have a real hard time seeing the oil line, especially with fresh oil. I was wondering if applying some colored nail polish to the fill area on the stick would help (okay ... stop laughing ... I'm serious).

Where's filter on '01 Nissan Altima?

I offered to do an oil change on my son-in-law's '01 Nissan Altima. Before I embarrass myself I need to know where the filter is located and how difficult is it to get at?

    Advice needed for OCI

I will be changing the oil in my daughter's 2000 GMC Jimmy this weekend. She doesn't live close by so this my first oil change for her. Vehicle has 100K and has been serviced about every 3k (she claims) by a (shudder) 'quick lube' outfit near her home using dino. With a New England winter around...

    First change at 3K?

I'm kind of "old school" and was taught (many years back) that the first oil change on a new vehicle should always be earlier than the manufacturer's recommendation. That being said, if I plan on using dino every 5K on my new '09 Honda CR-V (even if the MM says I'm still okay) should I do my...

New member w/ new vehicle seeks input

Hi all. I'm new to this forum (but have been following along for a while) and this is my first post. I've seen many, well thought out, informative answers here so I think I've come to the right place. Here's my situation: I have a '09 Honda CR-V approaching 3K miles. 80% city / 20% hwy. Planned...
