    Post your latest oil change

I take 90% them as claims only. I am a old school first generation of synthetic oil user where the base oil was was synthetic not GLT or super refined G III. Germany is the only country where "full synthetic" label still adheres to the original definition (as far as I am aware)

CTEK Battery Recondition mode for AGM seems to work

Yes it does indeed. Don't use it too often, they recommend once a year

    Post your latest oil change

Toyota RAV 4 2003 petrol 98k. As as I know it is the only product with a clear fully synthetic specification & labelling. the car has run on Mobil 1 FS 0w40 since new (except for one oil change when I used petronas 0w40)

dealer used dot 4 for brake flush. car manual lists LV

DOT 4 comes in LV version as well. MAybe this is what was used. The fluid flow (particularly @ low temperatures) can affect the the operation of modern driver aids: ABS, traction control emergency stop etc. How noticeable this is, I cannot comment as I drive a car that only has ABS:)

    How to Tell Counterfeit Tires?

counterfeit tyre would generally not have all the labelling on the tyre wall. I am sure china has it's own brand of tyres compliant with legislation for the maket they are selling it into. I also know big brands have factories in different countries like continental bike tyres made in korea...

    Changing viscosity with the seasons?

Nothing wrong with doing this since you have the stock & are willing. I don't know your winter/ summer temperature range; if extreme, can help the engine. I decades back, before multigrade oil era, you changed between summer & winter grade

    Which Valvoline product?

New car, new engine and zero miles? 5~7k OCI? I would not use any special oil: long life, extended drain, Valvoline Restore and Protect..... They all have additive package for the specific condition. Since your new engine does not have any condition, I would use a synthetic oil with a normal...

If I see a fuel tanker @ a petrol station delivering fuel, I go to another station!

Warm fuel at the gas station

year ago a consumer program made about this subject. There was a minute difference between filling up @0C compared to 30; we are talking about a 50~100ml over 50liters

    Regular vs Premium Gas Pricing

over here, the difference was <5%. That was unit the ethanol in regular fuel content went from 5 to 10% then like me more people switched to super premium because of the lower ethanol content. Since the demand went up, the price differential went to to ~10%

    Are these sparkplugs genuine?

The ground electrode finish looks very rough and the metal body finish is not smooth. The legend on the insulator is also not crisp. Denso also have a leaflet on how to spot a fake

    New to me gen3 Hayabusa

Nice bike. Look after it and enjoy the rush (without getting carried away:)) Chain & tyre wear are on the high side because of the weight & torque but also depends on your riding style. If it were my bike, I would only use top grade synthetic 10w50. The damaged bolt is shocking. Someone must...

What is the consensus on Liqui Moly motorcycle oil?

I have recently switched to liqui moly full synthetic on my bike. They are made in germany so no regional variation, fully synthetic as per german advertising requirement (no marketing trickery, GLT or hydrocracked mix). They are better value than mainstream big name brands but less widely...

What synthetic oils were available in 1982?

Over here, I was one of the first to use the first synthetic oil on the market, it was labelled mobil rally and believe it was a 10w50 (or maybe 15w50). The name was changed to mobil 1 few years later. The change the viscocity to 5w50 which caused some oil consumption issue. They reinstated the...

Liquid Wrench on nuts/bolts for future removal

i use either copper or aluminium grease to reduce corrosion & galling. But it is important to reduce torque values by about 20%

    Repair Patch Leaking

I consider 1PSI a week too much; a month is acceptable. The mushroom plug repair from the inside is permanent repair and your was not done properly or you should've been told the tyre is not repairable. Traction controls, ABS allow a certain difference in tyres rolling radii before activation...

    Repair Patch Leaking

If you mean the sticky string repair, then yes you can remove it and start over again. This is sometimes done when the first repair is not done properly. If the puncture it not a hole but a slice, then it may have spread. In which case I would have the tyre removed and repair done from the...

    Turntable Static/dust/fuzz control

I have used zerostat (since 1976!!!), it definitely helps. When playing an LP, the stylus friction on the vinyl creates static. When you finish playing, discharge the gun above the it before lifting the record, then aim it at the later and treat both sides before putting back inside the sleeve...
