    Car totalled, fix or replace?

A couple weeks ago I was at a friends house and parked my car in a long shared driveway/parking lot. Later that night, heard a high rev then a loud crashing noise, and found out much to my dismay that someone decided to take a shortcut through the front corner of my car and run afterward. Police...

The end ot Tesla Motors? - i.e. DeLorean II

Add his five children to the mix and it's a recipe for going broke, between what settlement the ex wants and child support arrangements.

Alternator and battery suddenly died- why?

Thanks folks! Shop guy said he carries Interstate but he can get whatever battery the customer wants. I've got some warranty left on the Optima according to the receipt I saved, but it's not going back in this car. The reason why I chose the red top was not having to clean the negative terminal...

Alternator and battery suddenly died- why?

Went to start my car around 11PM Sunday night, not even a click. Dome light very dim, but still came on. Didn't check other accessories. I called AAA for a jump, which got the car running fine until I turned the headlights on. Tow guy had a multimeter and told me the battery was reading only 4.6...

    "Import" Check engine lights

1990 Nissan 300zx- codes 32, 33, 34, 51 and 13. 32 and 33 are EGR related 34 is the knock sensor 51 is fuel injectors (turned out to be the harness/connector) 13 is coolant temperature sensor to the ECU The last two I fixed, 32, 33, and 34 come on and off at random, doesn't really bother me...

stripped my drain bolt...had to use Jiffy Lube :(

How stripped was the 14mm drain bolt? I've got a similar problem, the plug doesn't look too bad but both a craftsman 6 point 14mm and a gator grip keep slipping, and the plug is on TIGHT(shop did it) and I have a weak arm. Hammering on a 13mm and going at it with a breaker bar sounds...

lets see how bad you really hate Fram

I've bought two used vehicles with fresh oil but Fram filters on them at purchase, it didn't bother me enough to switch filters until the next OC. Beggars can be choosers with a few turns of the filter wrench, but I didn't see a need to get the feared orange can of questionable construction off...

Two aftermarket oil filters for my Z

I had a very slight valvetrain noise at idle two out of four times I used the OEM filter with my Z32 , it's there now with another OEM filter but just having the heads put back on after a 3-angle valve job there's too many variables to finger the filter. I like the OEM filter, but for some...

Shop put in "wrong" oil- to change or not?

Thanks to all for the help- the oil stays! The shop is independent and usually works on Mercedes, mostly diesels so their oil choice may not have been from bulk considering the different specifications. My only concern now is capacity. The dipstick has never been a good indicator on this car...

Shop put in "wrong" oil- to change or not?

Recently I had my car at a shop for a 120k service which required changing the oil. Two days later, looking at the receipt more closely, I see that they have put in Pennzoil 5w30. At $7.05 a quart, I assume it is some kind of synthetic if not PP. The car is a 1990 Nissan 300zx non-turbo with...
