    Michelin CrossClimate2 wear concerns

I will post an update after I’ve had a chance to see how they perform in a variety of Colorado conditions. Regarding price, Sam’s Club was the best deal I found around town. These GYs in size 245/60R18 with install were $932 out the door. I was happy with that price.

    Michelin CrossClimate2 wear concerns

Just a minor update. We replaced the Michelins with the Goodyear Assurance WeatherReady2 at Sam’s Club. They’ve only been on a few days so I won’t kid you with some kind of in-depth review, but I can say they’re quiet and riding very nice. If anyone wants my opinion in a few months I should...

    Michelin CrossClimate2 wear concerns

Here's an interesting thing I just noticed. My current CC2's that were installed in 2021 are 245/60R 18 105V. The latest available in this size are 245/60R 18 109V. I wonder if this load index increase improves the outer wear issue? In any event I decided to order the Goodyear Assurance...

    Michelin CrossClimate2 wear concerns

No, this is our kid hauler and my wife drives like a grandma. It definitely isn't driven hard, but Colorado roads are somewhat terrible. In any event, the CC2s on our Forester aren't having this problem, but they're a drastically different size and that car is much lighter (3,200lbs vs 4,500lbs).

    Michelin CrossClimate2 wear concerns

Thanks, I've always heard positive things about the ProContact line from Continental. I will keep that in mind when I replace these tires. I've actually not experienced any vibration or noise issues with the CC2. It's pretty much just the odd wear issue on this one vehicle (I have them on...

    Michelin CrossClimate2 wear concerns

The previous sets (Defenders and Goodyear Assurance WeatherReady) wore fine. The CC2 wears as if they're at a low pressure. I had a suspension shop check everything. There's no issue with alignment, tie rods, shocks, etc. They suggested I try a different tire next time. In terms of driving...

    Michelin CrossClimate2 wear concerns

36PSI is the recommended pressure on all four. I run them 38 to 39. Center tread is currently 5/32 and it trends down to 2/32 toward the outer. I might go back to Defenders or perhaps try something different like Pirelli's all weather. Perhaps it's a byproduct of the type driving we do which...

    Michelin CrossClimate2 wear concerns

I'm curious if anyone else had issues with the CrossClimate2 wearing faster on outer tread vs the center? Yes, I'm running them at the correct PSI and the alignment is good. This is on a 2017 Toyota Highlander and I'm wondering if it's an issue for anyone else with a Highlander or similar SUV...

    Subaru drum brake recommendation

Thanks! Any idea if MK Kashiyama was the OEM provider? I'm wondering if those are made somewhere other than China? I found those at NAPA and some online parts retailers.

    Subaru drum brake recommendation

I tend to agree. It seems like if you look at any brand whether it be Powerstop, Centric, Raybestos, Durago, etc they're all made in China for this application. I think I'll just order whatever has some partial or full exterior rust protection and the extra holes to help push it off the wheel...

    Subaru drum brake recommendation

Age and wear. They're original, have never been machined, and are on the end of life with their second set of shoes. The exterior is incredibly rusted and I'm fine with that, but it's just time for some fresh drums. At $20-$40 per drum i figure why not!

    Subaru drum brake recommendation

I tend to stick with OEM for everything as well; however, Subaru hasn't had OEM drums or shoes available for this year/model in years. Every dealership parts department sources aftermarket for these parts and that varies depending on local suppliers/contracts.

    Subaru drum brake recommendation

Any recommendation or ones to avoid for rear Subaru drum brake kits? It’s about time for them on my 2008 Subaru Forester. Rockauto has a complete kit from Centric and PowerStop with coated drums. I’ll be doing the whole shabang.. drums, hardware, cylinder, shoes. I’m not sure who Subaru used...

‘08 Subaru Forester upper radiator hose

Thanks for the tip. My local store didn’t have any Hylomar, but I picked up Permatex Super High Tack Gasket Sealant. The package says “seals hose connection & rubber, paper, & cork gaskets.” Assuming this is fine?

‘08 Subaru Forester upper radiator hose

Interesting, I hadn't thought to grab any sealant. So after cleaning just apply some Hylomar Blue on the pipe and slide the hose on?

‘08 Subaru Forester upper radiator hose

Everyone, Thanks for the advice! I decided to go ahead and order new clamps and both the upper and lower hoses (all OEM) since they're both original. I'm replacing because the upper hose has signs of leakage at the connection from the engine. Anywho, this will obviously be a full drain &...
