Pallet jack oil for cold temps

I’m looking to change out the fluid in the pallet jack I use for work, it’s kept in a unheated box of a delivery truck all day and night. It’s often colder than 0F and in those temps the jack essentially becomes useless. I’m leaning towards using Dexron, but would power steering fluid perform...

    Plastic welding

Just curious what the success rate for plastic welding is? I'm talking typical plastics you find on automobiles, plastic interior panels etc... I've tried my luck on some cracked polypropylene interior pieces in the past and the weld is always brittle and hairline cracks with ease. Perhaps it's...

    Wix WL10010

Managed to find the 2015+ FSM online, elusive. Looks like the filter snaps into the cap first, oops. They show a “retainer” feature in the cap that is essentially a spring loaded stopper that keeps tension on the filter cartridge, much like the spring in a conventional spin on. Well at least...

    Wix WL10010

I just had my first experience with these filters changing the oil on the wife’s 3.6 Charger today. There’s a few things I am curious about... What is the purpose of the small o ring on the “stinger” end? I suppose the stinger is just there to keep the filter properly aligned in the filter...

Milwaukee Fuel Impact anvil slinging grease

Nothing spilled on it, I’ve barely used it any either. I will try contacting Milwaukee and see what they can do for warranty.

Milwaukee Fuel Impact anvil slinging grease

So does anyone else have a Milwaukee electric impact wrench? I picked my up a M12 stubby back in Spring and notice every time I use it, it likes to sling grease/oil out from the base of the anvil and make a mess... I looked at the parts diagram and there appears there is suppose to be a o-ring...

    Does oil quantity/capacity affect UOA?

I didn’t even think of a scenario like that. I had recently picked up a used car that was low by a whopping 3 quarts, it’s suppose to take 5. I had to add 3 quarts of “make up/top up” oil. I am debating on running a UOA, which had me thinking, what if I had sampled it without topping the oil off?

    Does oil quantity/capacity affect UOA?

I’m curious, does the amount of oil in the engine sump/pan affect UOA readings? Example if your engine took 5 quarts, but it was a quart low(had only 4 quarts) when you pulled the plug to change the oil and grab a sample?

    Is this thread galling?

Yes it installed fine with no cross threading, two weeks ago. It was during REMOVAL that it got caught up. Bolt was installed in a weld nut, the portion you see damaged had already passed through to the other side of the nut during service. It was when they passed back through the weld nut on...

    Is this thread galling?

I was undoing a M8 bolt securing the steering column and it started getting really hard to turn the ratchet... Funny thing is I had just installed the same bolt 2 weeks ago. I thought to myself there was no way it was cross threaded when it was installed, I had turned it in by hand and snugged...

    Floor jack lubrication

Thanks for all the suggestions. I ended up getting some Lucas Red n Tacky and used it on the rollers, piston buckets, front wheels (no bearings in there, just a shaft and steel wheel), hinge bolts etc. Just about every part I could take apart and grease, surprising how many joints there are in a...

    Floor jack lubrication

Looking for something I could use for all the hinges and moving parts on my floor jack. The main pivot is the only part on the jack that has a grease zerk. Otherwise everything else is a bit hard to grease without taking it apart. So a oil that can penetrate is preferable. I was thinking Triflow...

    Oil recommendation for engine storage.

Is there something that "clings" well to engine internals over time, up to a year or more? I have a few cars and motors that sit around in storage for long periods. On one vehicle with a Nissan SR motor, I started using some Amsoil Z-Rod 10W30 a couple years ago. I typically have the motor...

    Best strut mounts?

Sounds like the bearing is toast and causing the strut assembly to bind. In a properly working assembly the strut assembly is able to rotate smoothly with steering input, however if it binds, radial forces are exaggerated in the strut assembly, creating the play you see at the top of the strut...

    Best strut mounts?

What kind of play does it have? You say it moves around when turning the steering wheel. The piston rod should not even rotate on this type of strut mount used on your 2010 Lancer.

Alternatives to antiseize for rust prone fasteners?

How easy is it to remove cosmoline a couple years after it has been applied? Will brake clean dissolve it without scrubbing? How about presoaking with a degreaser like Super Clean followed by a pressure rinse? Also, does it have any creeping action while it's still wet? Or does it dry too fast?

Alternatives to antiseize for rust prone fasteners?

I typically apply antiseize to all suspension bolts during reassembly. However I find the A/S on the exposed threads tends, to dry out exposing the them to the elements ie. salt. Typically I have this issue with sway bar links as there is usually a good length of exposed thread on the links...

Is installing this wheel seal necessary?

I came across some info on a Mazda forum that states Mazda stopped installing the seal on 2002.5+ Protege's because it trapped water and instead cut out a drain below the bearing seat in the knuckle(visible in the photos). That would explain why I didn't encounter a seal during removal (thought...

Is installing this wheel seal necessary?

Vehicle is a 03 Mazda Protege. Rusty old beater I got off a co worker, needed some work including a new wheel bearing. I purchased a new wheel seal for $2 along with the new bearing as it mentioned one in the parts catalog as well as the service manual. I pressed in the new bearing today and I...
